BBQ time! The summertime bbq at Albina street was a great time and fun for everyone who joined. This gathering lets all staff and residents connect, relax, eat, and celebrate together! Josh, and Greyson who are the regular Umbrella staff at Albina spent the day helping out and connecting with other staff and residents along side Our Place Society .
The Albina Street Supported Housing Project was opened in 2023 by Our Place Society and BC Housing and continues to be a valuable resource for the community. We are grateful for everyone that pitched in to help, and for all of the amazing work being done by all.

On Thursday April 23 the Victoria Native

Friendship Centre hosted its 3rd Annual

Community Care Fair!

Fair participants and visitors had a day to learn how VNFC can support your wellness journey. Community members were able to connect with local health and wellness service providers and organizations including Cultural Support and Wellness. This event also included:

Haircuts

Acupuncture

Mammograms

Hearing Tests all for free!

Louise from the RAAC clinic, John Bob and Cassidy from the Island health Indigenous Outreach team and Outreach

Worker Rebecca were in attendance representing the umbrella Society amongst dozens of other organizations and were able share information on how we can all collectively support our Indigenous community members. We were incredibly grateful and to be invited and to share a delicious meal prepared for all in attendance. It was such a powerful and amazing day. HÍSW̱KE 🙌🏽

April showers do bring May flowers!
Many changes happened in the last week of April--we had to put our registered groups on a hiatus (Comfortably UN-Numb & Women's Group), which really hit us all hard.
But our passionate staff and leadership worked to fill some gaps with more drop-in groups!
New to us is the AA Big Book Step Study, a drop-in Women's Support Group, along with promoting the She Recovers Victoria chapter!
Everyone loves a good calendar...
Contact the office if you have any questions, and happy

What a community we have. April marked the loud voices honoring the lives silenced. An intimate memorial, a passionate rally, and a thought-provoking art installation.
All done together, with such respect and care.
Thank you to those who put in their time and energy into ending the stigma.

As the warmer weather comes out to play, we understand that schedules can get busy, and a full-fledged registered group might not always be in the cards. In the spirit of continuing to make recovery resources accessible to all, we're now hosting an AA Big Book Step Study drop-in group on Tuesday evenings at 7pm.

These meetings help A.A. newcomers understand the program while providing long-term members with ongoing insight into recovery principles.
No experience necessary, completely drop-in, come on in!

Call or text the office if you have any questions!
