🧡 Today, we honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

At Shoreline Orthodontics, we take this day to reflect, listen, learn, and recognize the history, experiences, and ongoing impact of residential schools on Indigenous Peoples, families, and communities across Canada.

May we continue to move forward with compassion, respect, understanding, and a commitment to reconciliation — today and every day. 🧡

Our Orthodontists understood the assignment!

We gave our doctors a little 80’s makeover and honestly…we’re not sure they are ready to come back. Which doctor is winning the 80’s look? 👇

🦷 Crowding: what’s happening?

When there isn’t enough room in the jaw for all the teeth to come in properly, teeth may become crowded, crooked, or rotated.

That’s one reason early orthodontic assessments are so valuable! 💜

Around age 7, we can take a look at how your child’s teeth, jaws, and bite are developing. And an early assessment doesn’t always mean early treatment — often, the best approach is simply to monitor growth and development until the timing is right. 👀✨

When early intervention is needed, it may help:
🦷 Guide jaw growth and development
↔️ Create space for developing teeth
😁 Support a healthier bite
✨ Reduce the risk of more complex concerns later

Every smile develops differently, and our goal is to recommend treatment only when and if it’s needed.

📅 Book your child’s orthodontic assessment with Shoreline Orthodontics and let’s keep an eye on their growing smile!

☀️🦷 Summer smiles need a little extra love! 🌊💙

Between sunny days, summer treats, vacations, and busy schedules, don’t forget about your orthodontic routine! 😎

💧 Stay hydrated
🍦 Enjoy sugary treats in moderation
🪥 Keep up with brushing & flossing
😁 Wear your elastics or aligners as prescribed
✈️ Pack your ortho essentials when travelling

A few simple habits can help keep your smile healthy and your treatment on track all summer long! ☀️✨

🦷 Why age 7? It’s the perfect time for an orthodontic check-up!

The Canadian Association of Orthodontists recommends every child have their first orthodontic assessment by age 7. At this stage, permanent teeth are beginning to erupt, making it easier to identify developing bite, jaw, or spacing concerns early.

✨ Early evaluations can:
✅ Spot orthodontic issues before they become more complex
✅ Monitor jaw and tooth development
✅ Help determine the ideal timing for treatment
✅ Give parents peace of mind

The best part? No referral is needed, and many children won’t need treatment right away—we simply keep an eye on their growing smile.
