🤿🏝️ Jeju Island - South Korea 🏝️

Jeju Island is located just off the southern tip of South Korea.

Jeju Island is Korea's most popular tourist destination and the largest island located at the southernmost part of South Korea.
It is located in the Korea Strait between South Korea and Japan.
This island is also an internationally renowned vacation spot and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

✈ We visited for a few days last season, while touring South Korea. It's less than an hour flight from the city of Busan.
Busan and Jeju Island are very popular vacation destinations in South Korea, for locals and tourists alike.

🏔️ Jeju is picturesque volcanic island, with beautiful beaches, waterfalls, hiking trails and UNESCO historical sites.
With a population of well over 600,000, the island relies heavily on tourism.

🤿 It is also very well known for its renowned Haenyeo. These are women who free-dive for seafood, with a tradition that goes back decades. There's a beautiful museum on the island dedicated to these brave women.

🗿 As well, scattered all over the island, are ancient volcanic rock statues. These statues are known as Dol Hareubang, which means ... “stone grandfathers.”
Most were carved during the Joseon period. They were traditionally placed at village entrances or gates as guardians against evil spirits.

🐟 There's fresh seafood galore, as well as Hallabong tangerines, which are amazing! 🍊There's also fresh juice stands selling this delicious tangerine juice.

We enjoyed 2 full day guided tours of the island during our short visit.

🌅Great Ocean Road - Melbourne, Australia 🌅

If you're traveling to Melbourne, you simply must plan a day and take a tour of the spectacular Great Ocean Road.
We did just that with Hit the Road Tours and it was awesome!

offers a special {reverse tour} around the Great Ocean Road. Instead of following all the other large tours buses on their regular route, our small group tour travels in the opposite direction.

🌞 The advantage of doing this, is we arrived at the famous {Twelve Apostles} scenic viewpoint well before anyone else.
We were able to enjoy this absolutely stunning site, literally on our own when we arrived.

🚍 After enjoying our leisure time at the Twelve Apostles, it was not until we were leaving, that the others were beginning to arrive.

🐨 The entire tour experience, including spotting Koala Bears in the rainforest, beautiful 🦜 colorful birds, visiting the mystical gorges, was perfectly planned by our wonderful tour guide and very safe driver.

🚌 For a smaller group mini bus tour, offering so much more than a typical large crowded full size tour bus, I highly recommend a Reverse Great Ocean Road tour with this company.
You won't be disappointed!

✨ Achiote Ecuador Cuisine Restaurant ✨

On our wonderful vacation to Ecuador a couple of seasons ago, we visited the city of Quito for a few days. While there, we had the opportunity to dine at an authentic Ecuadorian Restaurant in the city.

Having the distinct opportunity to collaborate with Quito Turismo, led us to an incredible culinary experience at Achiote Ecuador - Cuisine Restaurant

This long standing well established family-owned restaurant, delivers original Ecuadorian cuisine with a fusion twist.

🧑‍🍳 My wife and I had the pleasure of sampling their superb {5-course tasting menu} and also had the pleasure of meeting the owners/chefs of this fine establishment.

🥩🌱 Every dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious, from the green plantain dumplings with quinoa to the mild Andean lamb stew.

🏘️ The restaurant is conveniently located in the trendy La Mariscal District, yet it is situated on a beautiful quiet, residential street. The lovely ambiance, complete with a fireplace, makes it a perfect setting for dinner.

👍 If you are traveling to the city of Quito and love sampling the local cuisine at its finest, then I highly recommend dining at Achiote Restaurant.

🌾 Les Rives Authentic River Experience - Vietnam 🌾
🚤 Cu Chi Tunnels Speedboat Tour

One of the main tours & attractions not to be missed, located just outside of 🏙 Ho Chi Minh City, is visiting the Historic Cu Chi Tunnels. My son and I did just that a few seasons ago with Les Rives Vietnam - Authentic River Experience.

This half day tour by 🚤 river boat to the tunnels, is the only way to travel to these historic tunnels, located about 1 ½ hours outside
of the city.

Many 🚍 bus tours head to this main tourist attraction, but riding in an open air fast 🚤 boat while enjoying the scenery and life along the Saigon River, is the only way to go!

During the years of the Vietnam conflict with the Americans, literally thousands of Vietnamese living in the Province of Cu Chi, survived underground in an incredibly sophisticated system of tunnels.

We boarded our comfortable boat complete with 2 captains and a wonderful English speaking tour guide. Once on our way, we were immediately offered a tasty 🥪 bunwich with drinks and 🍍 fresh fruit for breakfast.

As we made our way up river, our guide began pointing out areas of interest, explaining the everyday way of life for those working
and living on the banks of the Saigon River.

The ride takes about 1 ½ hours, where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the open air breeze and scenery.

👍 What made this tour even more enjoyable, was the relaxing small size group tour. As well, the scenic boat ride up the Saigon River to and from the Cu Chi Tunnels was outstanding.

I highly recommend taking this type of tour on a refreshing open air boat. It's so much more enjoyable to that of a stuffy crowded bus. Being able to enjoy the sites along the river, complete with a wonderful crew and guide, was excellent!

🏤 The Wyndham Garden Hotel - Quito, Ecuador 🏤

🌄 During our wonderful trip to Ecuador a few seasons ago, and while spending a few days touring the city of Quito, we had the pleasure of staying at the Wyndham Garden Quito hotel in the city.

👏 We had a superb 5 night stay at this Wyndham Hotels & Resorts property. This Wyndham hotel was just one of 2 we enjoyed staying at during our days in Ecuador.

🏨 This lovely 3-star hotel is the perfect blend of affordability and comfort for both business & leisure travel.

🌳The hotel is ideally located in the heart of the busy downtown area, near Parque La Carolina. A lovely part of the city, next to this beautiful nature park.

The property provided all the amenities one would expect in this caliber of hotel.

🛌 Our guest room had a very comfortable king bed, work desk area and complimentary in room wi-fi.
The bath was spotless and provided everything we needed for our stay.

🥘Their complimentary buffet breakfast was excellent, and we also enjoyed having dinner a few times at the restaurant as well, after a long day of touring. It was so nice, not having to go out and search for a restaurant after a long day!

✨ Korean Gourmet Hunters - Seoul ✨

One of our favorite things to do when traveling to new destinations around the world, is to discover the local culture through food. My wife and I recently had the opportunity to experience a superb "Heart of Seoul Food Tour" with ... 🥢Korean Gourmet Hunters

🚝 Our host and owner Veronica Tae-Ahn Kang, met with us along with our excellent guide for the tour at the entrance to the Seoul Train Station at a designated time.

🚶‍➡️ This walking cultural food tour experience, was a true feast for all the senses!.

🚶‍➡️ After introductions and a nice leisurely walk down a city promenade, we visited our first local eatery, starting with three traditional dishes:
🍜 Kalguksu (noodle soup), Naengmyeon (cold noodles), and Bibimbap (mixed rice with vegetables).
It was the perfect warm-up for what was yet to come!

☺️ We then moved on to another local favorite outlet, to sample popular street food. Tteokbokki (chewy rice cakes in a spicy sauce) and Eomuk (fish cakes on a stick).
We also enjoyed Makgeolli, a traditional fermented rice wine that’s a must-try.

🍧 Our awesome tour ended with a perfect sweet treat — Bingsu with mango and gelato.

👍 Our tour guide Dji-Yon, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, providing detailed explanations about every dish we tried along the way.

💚 If you're planning a visit to Seoul and you love mixing with the locals and experiencing local cuisine and hidden gems, I highly recommend experiencing a food tour with a local in the city.

It's the perfect way to experience authentic Korean gastronomy and culture at its best!

🏺Jaisalmer Fort - India🏺

📸 This Week's Travel Photo is of the Historic Jaisalmer, the second oldest fort in Rajasthan built in 1156.

My son and I actually stayed right inside this amazing Fort at a quaint hotel. Inside, there are a number of accommodations, restaurants, shops and more.
