People often ask me what shoes I wear.

My answer? It depends what I’m doing!

My goal with footwear isn’t to find one “perfect” shoe—it’s to match the shoe to the activity.

From running shoes to minimalist shoes to sandals, here’s what’s currently in my weekly rotation and why. 🫶🏼🦶🏽

****It is worth noting that I have been wearing minimalist shoes and working on foot health for YEARS!! If you are looking to wear less shoe, make sure you do so in a way that your body can tolerate 🫶🏼

Your big toe should be the strongest toe on your foot, handling up to 40–60% of the load when you walk.

But because of injuries, footwear, and movement compensations, many of us stop loading it properly.

The good news? You can train it. 🦶🏽💪🏽

Time to bring some strength back to your big toes. Just feeling them press down into the ground is a fantastic place to start, and something that can be repeated throughout the day. Keep them nice and long, and experiment with pushing them down. Start while sitting or standing, then add in pushing off while walking. 🫶🏼

Turns out it was pretty good training. 🤗

Balancing challenges your feet, wakes up your core, engages your hips, and gives your brain a chance to practice coordinating it all together.

Simple. Fun. Effective. 🫶🏼🦶🏽💪🏽

A story about a foot.

She had been dealing with foot pain for 2 years - that was diagnosed as plantar fasciitis 2 months ago.

She had tried EVERYTHING.

What did we do differently?

We looked at the body as a whole. Made sure that everything was moving well without restriction. And got some foot strengthening going. Turns out, that was just what she needed.

Your feet…but make it scary. 😵

Your feet deserve trust, strength, and shoes that let them be feet. Yes, there can be a time and a place for flip flops, cushion, and orthotics….but let these things be the exception, not the rule.

Spread your toes,

Foot health CAN be that easy!! But your toe spacers aren’t doing you any good staring at you from your shelf 😬

Toe spacers help restore proper foot function by realigning your toes. By getting your feet into proper alignment, they can improve blood flow, reduce soft tissue tension, and allow your intrinsic foot muscles to work in an ideal position.
