Old-growth forests aren’t renewable. Once logged, they’re gone forever.

It takes centuries for these ancient ecosystems to mature. They store massive amounts of carbon, retain water, and provide critical habitat for endangered species. Yet only a fraction of at-risk old growth remains in B.C.

Take action today to protect the last old-growth forests by commenting "🌲" and we'll DM you a link

Old-growth forests are more than just their age. It’s their structure and ecology that really makes them stand out against young forests! Watch this video to learn more.

Despite repeated promises from the provincial government to protect these at-risk ecosystems, every day 100 soccer fields of irreplaceable old growth are cut down. Only a fraction of the most endangered stands are protected. Let’s change that.

At yesterday’s meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney, Premier David Eby pushed back against growing federal pressure to fast-track new oil export projects.

Eby made it clear that economic development cannot come at the expense of environmental protection and the long-standing North Coast tanker ban that protects some of the world’s most sensitive coastal ecosystems.

Prime Minister Mark Carney, meanwhile, threatened that provinces unwilling to support major resource projects risk being “left behind” as Canada looks to favour Alberta's oil industry over B.C.'s thriving coastal economy.

The conversation highlights a growing tension between Ottawa’s pandering to Alberta's interests when the BC coast stands to risk the most from an oil spill.

B.C. ecosystems are our treasure. We shouldn’t have to choose between jobs and protecting the place we call home.

Our friends at Skeena Wild released this video about the people who came together to protect the North Coast from oil tankers in 2012.

That threat has returned as Danielle Smith and Mark Carney have committed to move forward with a new energy agreement that could put the coast at risk. The power of ordinary people protected the coast before, and we can do it again.

Have you ever heard an eagle call? Take a listen!

The eagle call most often heard in movies belongs to the red-tailed hawk. Hollywood made this choice because they found the hawk’s call more intimidating, but we believe the eagle’s voice is remarkable all by itself!

Keep an ear out next time you’re on a stroll 🦅
