NEWS UPDATE! BCACC records 83% growth in Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) coverage in BC's municipalities since 2023.

Recently, the BCACC conducted a survey and found that 22 municipalities included Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) on plans. In 2023, the number was 12. This 83% growth is a clear and encouraging indication that BC's municipalities are prioritising quality mental health care, easy access, and reduced wait times for their employees in BC.

- Why this matters?

Public works employees, recreation staff, planners, engineers, utilities workers, bylaw officers, administrative professionals, firefighters, and police personnel navigate stressful situations, emergencies, public scrutiny, and complex community situations every day. By adding RCCs to plans, municipalities expand the number of qualified professionals available, thereby reducing wait times and improving access to quality care.

We are grateful to BC's municipalities for strengthening mental health support for their workers and encourage public and private sector employers to review their employee benefit plans and continue expanding access to quality mental health care across British Columbia.
