With open arms, we welcome the long, balmy and social days of summer!! Chinese medicine theory considers the outgoing season of Spring and subsequent Summer Yang seasons. Yang energy stimulates growth, expansion, and outward movement. The Yang energy is reflected in the natural world bringing longer, warmer days and an abundance of growth. The hospitable weather encourages us to spend more time outdoors to enjoy summer activities, socializing, later bedtimes, seasonal foods and warmth in the body!

For the past few years, I have been on a prolonged and fraught path to recovery following a life altering health crisis in 2019. I had multiple life threatening conditions including risk of stroke, an acute lupus flare and a kidney obstruction causing kidney failure. In the end, the whole year-long ordeal resulted in a bladder reconstruction and an immense amount of medical trauma, leaving me a shell of my former self.

PTSD has been a forced pause on my past full and active life. And reflecting back on it now, it was unknowingly a rare opportunity to do important internal work that I previously didn’t prioritize. To re-examine, re-learn and un-condition who I formerly was pre-2019.

Gradually, my capacity has steadily increased, I am coming out of a 5 year hibernation and 2025 has been a turning point. I am emerging lighter, much more grounded, insightful and dare I say…wiser….?

Christina will be absent from our Community Acupuncture schedule starting June 26 into July 19 for a number of trainings and obligations: From June 26 – July 19, Jade Kulhawy-Bartlett, R.Ac.

With adjusting their business hours to Wednesdays - Saturdays 11:00am - 6:00pm, going forward the clinic door will now be locked for the full duration of our Tuesday 9:30am - 2:15pm hours.

Acu-nappers, if you arrive and the front door is locked, please be patient, your practitioner will let you in 5-10 minutes before your appointment time!

Here are just a few of the MANY things we've tackled this May using Community Acupuncture!

If you are unfamiliar with the wonders of Community Acupuncture, in a nutshell, it is acupuncture treatments offered in a supportive group setting at $30-60 sliding scale rates. We provide treatments consisting of distal points (arms, legs, head, ears) while comfortably
lying in zero gravity recliner chairs.

Acupuncture is a dose dependent therapy and that the benefits are achieved by frequency, and less so by individual doses. Therefore, the
appropriate treatment plan is key in assisting the gradual process for resolving issues and promoting recovery. It becomes more accessible
for clients to access as much treatment as often as they need.
