Rylie's Birth Story - Part Three: Postpartumđź’™
In the final chapter of her story, Brittany reflects on a postpartum experience that felt profoundly different from her first.
She shares how, looking back, she recognizes that she was experiencing postpartum depression after the birth of her first. What stands out most to her now is that she had many of the things we're told can help. She had support. She had community. She understood the signs. She prioritized movement, nourishment, and caring for herself. And still, you can be affected.
Her story is an important reminder that maternal mental health challenges are not a reflection of how prepared you are or how much you know. Sometimes they happen despite our best efforts.
This time, postpartum has felt healing. Through reflection, support, and the experience of welcoming Rylie, Brittany has found space to grow, and experience motherhood in a new way.
As Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to echo Brittany's message: lean into your supports, talk about how you're really doing, and find your flock. Whether you're struggling, thriving, or somewhere in between, you deserve care too.
You were never meant to do this alone.
If this story resonated with you, we encourage you to reach out to Brittany and connect.
