Back to school, back to learning, and back to creating more inclusive opportunities for every student.

Today, we kicked off the school year with a Professional Development session for Campbell River School District 72, delivered by Jina Taylor and Andrea Carey

Educators got the chance to learn, connect and get hands-on with a try-it for sitting volleyball and boccia, exploring practical ways to bring more inclusive movement and play into their schools and classrooms.

A big thank you to Campbell River SD 72 for having us and for starting the school year with a focus on inclusion and participation.

Here’s to a great school year!

We’re excited to look back at some of our favourite moments from each of the sport stations in the PLAY Stream at the inaugural OneAbility Games.

Our final station from 2026: Adapted Soccer

From getting a feel for the ball and having fun to passing, shooting and scoring, participants had the chance to get on the courts, try new skills, and experience soccer in a way that worked for them. The adapted soccer station created space for everyone to get involved, build confidence, and, most importantly, have a blast playing the game.

A huge thank you to our incredible partners at Soccability Canada Vancouver Whitecaps FC BC Soccer Association and supporters from Vancouver FC Net Positive Football Society for helping bring adapted soccer to the OneAbility Games. Your expertise, enthusiasm, and commitment to creating more inclusive opportunities helped make this experience possible.

We’re also grateful to Mark Steffens from Mark Steffens and Gerry Kripps for helping capture and support these special moments from the day.

Thank you to everyone who helped make adapted soccer a part of the inaugural OneAbility Games and helped introduce more young people to the possibilities of inclusive sport.

Next up: Sitting Volleyball

Participants had the chance to try sitting volleyball, learning the basics of the sport while developing their passing, serving, communication, and teamwork skills. With everyone playing from a seated position, the court became a space where participants could experience volleyball in a new way, challenge themselves, and have fun together.

A huge thank you to our incredible partners Volleyball BC and VBC Sitting Volleyball for helping make this experience possible. Your support, expertise, and commitment to inclusive sport helped create a welcoming environment where every participant could get involved, try something new, and discover the fun of sitting volleyball.

We’re so grateful to Volleyball BC for being part of the inaugural OneAbility Games and helping us introduce more young people to the possibilities of inclusive sport.

Balls rolling, sticks moving, and plenty of goals being celebrated! Participants got to wheelchair and adapted floorball, learning the basics of stick handling, passing, shooting, and playing together. For many, it was their first chance to experience the sport, and we loved seeing the curiosity, enthusiasm, and teamwork that filled the floor.

Kinda chic, no?

OneAbility Games is all about creating spaces where every child gets to play, participate, and feel like they belong.

And honestly? We think inclusion looks pretty darn chic😉
