The Kiwanis Emergency Youth Shelter (KEYS) is a 10-bed home environment that provides free emergency housing for youth (ages 13-18) of all genders who are unhoused and/or have no safe housing alternatives.
Stays at KEYS are voluntary and typically last between 1 and 7 nights, with extensions available based on youth's goals and needs.
Youth 16 years and under require verbal consent of their legal guardian to access.

Swipe for information about the community garden at KEYS, pictures, and recent updates! :)

Behind the inviting building, the KEYS Community Garden provides more than just a place to grow fruits and vegetables. It is a space where youth can slow down, connect, and experience the value of caring for something over time.
Run in collaboration with our Youth Food Pantry, the garden offers an opportunity for youth to participate in creating food security for themselves and other youth that we serve.
By creating access to green space, food education, and meaningful participation, the KEYS community garden supports wellness, life skills development, and a sense of belonging for the young people we serve. 🌿🌻🪏

KEYS staff work to create a positive, safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for all youth. ☺️

In the cozy and welcoming building, staff provide access to basic needs services, individual support, and assessment and planning. Staff can also help with connections to community support, housing and job searches, resume building and skills for independence.

Exciting news at KEYS:

Our shelter recently received a beautifully renovated bathroom, creating a space that is more accessible, functional, and welcoming for youth. We are so grateful to 100 Women Victoria and Flintstones Design & Build for making this project possible!
