I have so much to be thankful for, from my early days at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary to the invaluable lessons learned from incredible mentors in Cambridge. I've had the privilege of managing a wonderful team of audiologists in the Forth Valley, reforming the pediatric audiology service in Galway, and working with amazing children and their parents in Victoria and Whitehorse.
It’s always about the children and making things better, even if it’s just a small improvement. This is our responsibility, and it’s a serious one. As Forest E. Witcraft, a teacher and scholar, once said: “A hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.”
