Picked up an amazing book that I have been in awe of.
S*x, Gender, and S*xuality.
-Ferber, Holcomb, Wentling
From the introduction,
"S*xuality in ancient Greece was also conceptualized in vastly dissimilar terms than we see today. S*xual relationships, between men and women, men and men, and women and women were all common, and one's s*xual or affectional desire was not a marker for social classification, stigma, or identity; however, there were strict norms governing who played what role in s*xual acts. Still, ancient knowledge and attitudes towards s*x and s*xuality were quite different from our modern attention and strict adherence to the heteros*xual-homos*xual binary, wherein the former is prized and the latter is demonized. This dichotomy is so pervasive today in discourses regarding s*x and s*xuality that it is seen as timeless innate, biological fate. Yet, in fact, the very words "heteros*xual" and "homos*xual" were coined scarcely more then a hundred years ago by Dr. James G. Kiernan, and his definitions of the words were quite different then our modern understandings. In his article on "s*xual perversion" Kiernan described the heteros*xual as a person with both "opposite" - and "same" - s*x s*xual desires. Here, the prefix "hetero" refereed to BOTH s*xes, rather then "opposite" s*x. "Heteros*xuals," then, were what we would now likely refer to as bis*xuals.
Wow, so our approach to s*xual identities has gone a bit differently.
What does this have to do with hypnotherapy?
Our s*xual attractions and identities can cause stress in our internal lives. Be it a worry about if we are "female
or "male" enough. Or if the environment we were raised in had rules about whom we could be attracted to.
Hypnotherapy can help you to be more comfortable in your s*xual expression and help you to uncover what is ti that you are wanting and what is your past associations.
Through the process of hypnotherapy it is possible to cultivate deeper self understanding and acceptance of your wants desire and needs, as well as finding ways to express and communicate them to get them met.
