John Loewen moved from this earth to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Sunday September 27, 2026 at the age of 89. He was born in Hanover County near Steinbach, Manitoba on December 31, 1936. He came west to Calgary, Alberta to visit his cousin in 1959 – and he stayed. He met his wife, Sylvia, and they were married on April 20, 1963. He was a trucker most of this life. When he was in Manitoba, he worked in logging camps in Northern Manitoba and then drove truck for South East Transfer in Steinbach. After he came to Calgary, he started work at Bekins Moving & Storage, doing moves locally, provincially and long distance across Canada and the US. John retired 3 times: He started driving bus for Calgary Transit in 1964 until he retired in 1993 after 29 years; then, he went back to moving again, starting his own company Loewen Moving Ltd moving locally, provincially and long distance across Canada and the US until he retired in 2006 after 12 years; then, he went back to trucking again, driving tandem for Brian’s Bobcat Service until his retirement in 2019 at 83 years of age. John loved his two boys, and in their early years he was involved with coaching them in baseball, and was one of the leaders with kids clubs at church. As the boys got older, John was the only one qualified to drive the bus to all the youth meetings, camps and ski trips. The youth all liked John, and respected him – and he enjoyed the trips, also. We all have many precious memories of our times together individually or as a family with John – too numerous to mention here. Of all the trips away that John has taken over the years, he has always come back to his family – this is the first move that he has taken, that we have to go to see him (in due time). John is survived by his wife Sylvia, and his sons Jeff (Audrey) Loewen, and Graig (Michaela) Loewen, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by his parents Isaac & Katherine Loewen, his brother Eddie, and his sister-in-law LillyAnne. John’s body was cremated. A family gathering will take place at a later date.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank McInenly, age 78, who passed away suddenly, surrounded by his family, at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, on September 17, 2026.

From a young age, Frank learned the value of hard work, determination, and independence. At just 13 years old, he began working for himself by selling a Grad Class fundraiser Auction. His entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic continued throughout his life.

In 1967, Frank started McInenly Auctions, conducting his first Auction sale for the J.R. Goldthorpe Estate. This marked the beginning of a long and successful career in the auction business. In 1969, he opened FM Trailer World, shortly before meeting his future wife, Agnes. Frank owned the Stavely Auction Market in 1975 -1980 & again in 1993 – 2005 Selling thousands of cattle in southern Alberta.

Frank was a proud supporter of his community and could often be found selling local events, 4-H, and fundraising Auctions throughout Southern Alberta. He had a distinctive voice and a larger-than-life presence—when Frank walked into a room, people knew he was there.

Frank’s proudest moments came from watching his daughters and grandchildren compete in rodeo throughout the Western provinces and the United States. He was immensely proud of every accomplishment, big or small, and never missed an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen about his girls and grandkids. Frank and Agnes spent countless days sitting on the bleachers at small-town rodeos, cheering loudly from the sidelines and following their family from one arena to the next. He loved watching them compete, but even more than that, he loved being their biggest fan and sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen.

Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Agnes; his daughters, Stacey McInenly and Holly Kugler; and his grandchildren, Austin Emineth (Kirstyn), Tynell McInenly, Keilan & Bristie Kugler. He was a proud great-grandfather to two grand-daughters.

He is also survived by his sister, Jo Boulton (Brian); sisters-in-law, Margaret Ann Schmitke (Ken), Carol Lyall (Mike), and Barb Lyall; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Kay McInenly; his in-laws, Dick and Helen Lyall; and his brother-in-law, Eldon Lyall.

Shortly before Frank said “Sold” for the final time, he was peacefully surrounded by his family and close friends—Agnes and family, Bill and Dawn, Cody Lee, Ken and Margaret Ann, Brian and Jo, and Doug.

Frank leaves behind a lasting legacy of hard work, dedication to family and community, and countless memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Celebration of life to be held Thursday October 1st, 2026 @ 1pm at the Cultural Recreation Center Vulcan Alberta – 504 4th Ave South Vulcan, Alberta.

In keeping with Frank’s love of the auction business, we kindly ask that you come dressed casually, as though you were attending one of his auction sales.

Bernard August Kreke, age 86, passed away, surrounded by his family at the Vulcan Hospital on September 4, 2026.

Bernard (Bernie) will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. His life was marked by hard work, faith, and the many memories he shared with those who knew him.

Bernard is survived by his Wife Carolyn, Son Michael, Daughter Sherry, Son-in-law Rocky, Grandchildren Katie and Thomas, Sister Maryanne and her husband Harold, Brother Peter and his wife Shirley, Sister Kathy and her husband Dan, Sister-in-law Beatrice, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Mary, Brother Alvin, Sister Wilma and brother-in-law Lawrence.

Bernard made his living as a Carpenter, Farmer and Rancher. He was dedicated to serving within his Parish Church Communities and providing support to neighbors and friends.

The Funeral for Bernard will be held at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church in High River, Alberta on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at 2:00pm.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darryl John Gillespie. He slipped away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 3, 2026 after a short, but brave, battle with cancer.

To most, Darryl will be remembered for his love of farming, his deep connection to the land and his dedication to a hard day’s work, no matter how long that day lasted.

They will remember him for his quiet nature and the kindness that spoke louder than words ever could.

To his family though, we will remember him as our rock. The man who spent his life providing for us, protecting us and, most of all, loving us. He is the one who taught us the value of a strong work ethic, the importance of family, and the quiet strength of simply being there when you are needed.

A piece of him lives on in every one of us that was lucky enough to have known him and been loved by him, and for that we can be forever grateful

Darryl leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Judy, his son Rob and daughter-in-law Dennell, grandchildren Kaitlin (Jordan), Courtney (Branden), Garret (Dani) and Tristan(Nathan), as well as great grandchildren Amelia and Roman. He also leaves behind his two brothers Grant (Joan) & Dennis (Lis), his brothers-in-law Don, Dale, Larry (Sandy) & Bob (Kathy), sisters-in-law Paula, Marianne (Kirk), Rachelle and many nieces, nephews and extended family

He was predeceased by his son Doug, parents John & Edna, inlaws Lloyd & Eileen, brother Kevin, sisters Candy & Pat, sisters-in-law Jayne, Donna & Judy, brothers-in-law Ted, Allan & David.

The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Vulcan Community Health Centre for their kindness, patience and support during the time leading up to Darryl’s passing. All of you made his final months more comfortable and gave our family peace of mind knowing he was surrounded by such compassionate care.

Barbara Grace Hogan (née Budd)

March 9, 1943 – August 28, 2026

Barbara Grace Hogan (née Budd), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Foothills Medical Centre following complications from a major stroke. She was 83 years old and was surrounded by her children and loved ones during her final days.

Born in Vulcan, Alberta, on March 9, 1943, to Vernie and Naaman Budd, Barbara was raised on the family farm and developed a lifelong love of learning, faith, music, and the outdoors. She earned bachelor's degrees in mathematics and geology from the University of Calgary. Early in her career with Mobil Oil, she helped pioneer computer-based geological mapping before becoming a mother, afterwards serving as an educator and administrator, teaching a steam engineering course and working in various roles with GSL Chev City and TELUS.

Barbara was a devoted Christian whose faith guided every aspect of her life. She generously shared her gifts through church volunteer work, singing, and music ministry. A longtime member of the Calgary Philharmonic Choir, she also enjoyed playing piano and studying voice.

Barbara loved geology, paleontology, hiking, backpacking, and mountain climbing. She will be remembered for her kindness, patience, generosity, curiosity, open-mindedness, and infectious laugh.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Paul Hogan (Teresa Wasney), Kevin Hogan and Nancy Re*****on (Todd), with whom she was blessed to reconnect with later in life; her grandchildren; her siblings Beverley Flower and Robert Budd; and numerous extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Warden Budd.

For any wishing to attend, a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vulcan Church of Christ, Vulcan, Alberta. A private graveside service for close family and friends will follow immediately afterward, while the remaining guests are invited to proceed to the reception area and await the family's return. The reception will conclude at 5:00 p.m.

Terry Tiegen

February 15, 1961 - August 25, 2026

Terry Carl Tiegen was born February 15, 1961 in Vulcan, AB and passed away August 25, 2026 in Milo, AB. Terry was the son of Danny and Carol Tiegen and was raised on the family farm along with his brother Larry and sisters Theresa and Patty. Terry loved trucking and started his career doing numerous trucking jobs around Milo for Gary Middlestead. He then moved to Lundbrek where he hauled rocks for the Oldman Dam. Following that he came back to Milo, having a couple different jobs including hauling oil. Terry eventually started his own trucking company hauling grain where at one point he had 6 contract truckers that worked under him. Following his dad’s passing he came back to the family farm where he continued to work until he retired in 2016.

Terry always loved trucks and cars. He loved drag racing and he was known for smoking tires and putting on a show in whatever vehicle he could find. He was always up for a good time with his friends and especially loved camping in the summer. In recent years he enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports and loved when they stopped to visit him.

Terry was survived by his mom Carol of High River, sons Jason (Amy) of Vulcan, Dereck of Milo and Randy (Kaela) of Stettler, his grandchildren Rhett, Chloe and Kadence, sisters Theresa (Bob) of New Minas, Nova Scotia and Patty of High River along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his dad Danny and brother Larry.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday October 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Milo Community Center, Milo Alberta

Jeannine Verna Kwasnicki (nee Gaudry)
1936 - 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeannine Verna Kwasnicki (née Gaudry) on August 10, 2026, at the age of 89.

Jeannine was born in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan on November 13, 1936 to Damas and Rosalie (Gosselin) Gaudry. She was the seventh and youngest child in the family. It was in early 1960, that she met Arthur “Art” Kwasnicki. The two were married on December 5, 1960, beginning a life together that would span nearly five decades.

Jeannine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur Kwasnicki, in 2008; her parents, Damas and Rosalie (Gosselin) Gaudry; her father and mother-in-law, Michael and Lena Kwasnicki; and her siblings and their spouses: Jerome; Lily (Emery) Belisle; Elizabeth (John) Dumais; Lena (Robert) Chartrand; Joe Gaudry; Art (Patsy) Gaudry; Medric (Burness) Gaudry;

Jeannine leaves to cherish her memory a son, Alan (Leanne) Kwasnicki; a daughter, Wendy (Randy Vivian) Jacobi; and her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie (James) Jacobi-Claveria, Jesse (Alanna) Kwasnicki, Nicole (Roger Jones) Baker, Brody Caragata (Tim Blunt), Justin (Lucia) Caragata, and Shania (Brett) Howe.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Mateo Jacobi-Claveria, Remi and Mance Kwasnicki, Logan and Morganne Richard, and Gray and Layla Howe, as well as her many in-laws and countless nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends whom hold a cherished place in her heart.

Jeannine’s family will forever treasure the memories she gave them—from her years on the farm and family gatherings to the everyday moments spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and all the visits with relatives and friend who were always welcome at her home on the farm. The visits, lunches, cups of coffee, drives in her Volkswagen Beetle, and simply having Grandma by their side are memories her family will hold close to their hearts. While she will be greatly missed and there is comfort in knowing that a life so deeply woven into the lives of others continues through the stories, traditions, love, and memories she leaves behind.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Vulcan, Alberta, on Saturday October 3, 2026 11:30 AM with a memorial gathering to follow at the Vulcan Royal Canadian Legion. In lieu of Flowers, Donations could be made to the FoxG1 Research Foundation on their website at www.foxg1research.org on behalf of her little Great Grandson Mateo.

Lyman Cecil Gerding,
April 29, 1954 - July 22, 2026

Our beloved brother and friend, Lyman Gerding, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the age of 72, leaving behind a family forever changed by his absence and forever grateful for his friendship.

Lyman was born on April 29, 1954, in Vulcan, Alberta, and lived a life defined by loyalty, strength, and kindness. He was the kind of person who made people feel safe, supported, and understood. His generosity reached far beyond family, touching friends, neighbors, and everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Lyman leaves six sisters behind to miss him. Susan, Janice, Gayle, Roberta, Donna and Marilyn. All commonly referred to by Lyman as “Those God Damned Girls”!

As a brother, he was one of life’s greatest gifts. He was our first teammate, our protector, often a great source of laughter, and someone who knew us in a way few others ever could. He stood beside us through every season of life and did his very awkward best to make sure we always knew we were loved.

Lyman loved simple pleasures: music turned up too loud, road trips, get togethers and laughter and b**r sessions that usually lasted way too late into the night!

Those moments were never small to him—they were life itself.

He was the center of so many of our best memories—the person who made holidays louder, difficult days lighter, and ordinary moments more memorable simply by being there. He had a way of making people feel welcomed, protected, and understood.

He lived with strength and grace. Even in difficult times, he met life with patience and determination. He reminded us that resilience can be quiet and still deeply powerful.

He believed in honesty, loyalty, and standing by the people you love. He gave his time, his energy, and sometimes even his heart freely. Whether through his friendships, or his role as a brother, he lived with warmth and purpose.

He was, and always will be, an unforgettable part of all of our stories.

We will miss him beyond words, and we will love him forever.

Joseph Allan Hunter
December 2, 1980 - July 22, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of Joseph Hunter. Joe had been ill for some time battling complications of his diabetes, and passed away in High River Hospital. The past year had been incredibly challenging for Joe, but he handled it with grace and never complained of his struggles. He was a loving and caring son to his mother Bonnie, brother to Mary, uncle to Jackson, and pre deceased by his father Ron. Those that knew Joe best, knew he was a one of a kind soul. Always there to offer a lending hand and never asked or expected anything in return. He loved road trips and was passionate about his collectibles, pets, and above all his family. There was no one you could count on more and he was a true pure soul. The light and love that he brought into his family’s lives is already sorely missed and his absence will leave a hole never to be forgotten. We take comfort knowing he is at peace. There will be a private family inurnment in Vulcan. Rest easy Joseph.

Sandra Corene Walker

September 21, 1943 - July 9, 2026

Sandra Walker of Vulcan Alta passed away at the Vulcan Hospital Long Term Care Centre at the age of 82 on July 9, 2026. She is survived by sons David (Claudia) of Calgary and Allen (Gladys) of Vulcan, Grandchildren Colton, Shawn, Michaela and Cassidy, sisters Joyce Hewison, Norma Fairbairn and brother Barry Boon and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandra was predeceased by her husband Harvey Walker (2023) Parents James Boon (1980) and Mary Boon (1984), Brothers James (2015) and Danny (2021).

At Sandra's request, a formal service will not be held at this time.

The Walker family would like to thank the Vulcan Hospital Long Term Care staff for the amazing care and compassion during her stay.
