Massage therapy is incredibly beneficial, but there are times when it’s safest to wait or modify your treatment. Here are five of the most common contraindications:

🌡️ 1. Fever or Contagious Illness
If you have a fever, the flu, or another contagious illness, it’s best to stay home. Massage can place extra stress on your body while it’s fighting an infection and may expose others.

🩸 2. Blood Clots (DVT)
If you have a known or suspected blood clot, massage should be avoided. Pressure over the area could increase the risk of the clot becoming dislodged, which can be life-threatening.

🩹 3. Open Wounds, Burns, or Skin Infections
Areas with cuts, burns, rashes, or contagious skin conditions should not be massaged until they’ve healed to help prevent irritation or the spread of infection.

❤️ 4. Uncontrolled Medical Conditions
Conditions such as severely uncontrolled high blood pressure, certain heart conditions, or other unstable medical issues may require medical clearance before massage is appropriate.

🤕 5. Recent Injury or Surgery
Massage can be very helpful during recovery—but timing matters. Recent fractures, surgeries, or acute injuries often require your healthcare provider’s approval and modifications to treatment.

Take away: Massage therapy is never one-size-fits-all. Your safety always comes first, and your treatment will be tailored to your health, comfort, and current condition.❤️‍🩹

🪷 Monday’s Muscle – Pectoralis Major

Shape: A large, fan-shaped muscle covering the front of the chest.

🤓 Fun Fact: Every hug, push-up, or push against a heavy door relies heavily on the pectoralis major.

📍 Origin / Insertion: Begins on the collarbone, sternum, and upper ribs, attaching to the front of the upper arm bone (humerus).

Purpose: This muscle pulls your arm toward your body and helps with pushing, lifting, and reaching across your chest.

✨ Important Booking Update – Credit Card on File Requirement ✨

Hello everyone!

First, I want to say thank you for your continued support of Little Lotus Massage Therapy. Whether you’ve been with me since I opened or you’ve recently become a client, I truly appreciate you trusting me with your care.

As my practice continues to grow, I’m making a small change to help protect appointment availability and ensure I can continue providing the best possible service to all of my clients.

💥Effective immediately, a valid credit card will be required to be kept securely on file to book future appointments.💥

Your card will NOT be charged when you book. It will only be used if the terms of the cancellation policy apply, such as:

* Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice: 50% of the scheduled service
* Missed appointments (no-shows): 100% of the scheduled service

Unfortunately, I’ve recently experienced an increase in last-minute cancellations and missed appointments. While I completely understand that emergencies happen, reserved appointment times are time that cannot usually be filled on short notice. This policy helps protect my small business while also allowing me to continue offering quality care to all of my clients.

Your payment information is securely encrypted and stored through my booking system. I do not have access to your full credit card details.

Thank you for your understanding, your support, and for respecting my time just as I respect yours. I’m grateful to be part of your health and wellness journey, and I look forward to continuing to care for you. 💝

With gratitude,
