An EMPP Day 🖤
One day every so often, we close the clinic doors and step out of the clinical hustle to work on EMPP instead of just in it.

We organize. We tackle projects. We talk about what’s working (and what isn’t). We throw around ideas about how we can make things better for our families AND for our team.

There are approximately 47 conversations happening at once, a ridiculous number of laughs, a visit from Drax 🐶, some very important snacks… and occasionally, a yummy dinner and Blue Jays game because team building can mean that too.

But honestly, these days are one of my favourite parts of EMPP.

Because I don’t want people who work here to simply work here. I want them to have a voice in how we grow, how we practice and what EMPP becomes. Your ideas matter. Your perspective matters. And yes, we actually want to hear them.

We work hard. We care A LOT. We laugh a lot. We celebrate each other. And somewhere along the way, this team has become a little bit like family. 💜

So if you’re a pediatric PT looking for more than just a job… maybe an EMPP Day is something you’d like to be part of. 😉

Towel hack = the MVP of teaching bike riding 🚲👏

This trick actually uses a similar concept to what we do in pediatric physiotherapy when helping kids learn new movement skills — provide more support at first, then gradually decrease it as confidence and control build.

Start by holding the towel snug around your child’s trunk to help with balance and stability. As they practice (and pick up speed), you can loosen your grip, slide your hands farther out on the towel, then eventually let go of one side… until suddenly, they’re riding on their own

Bonus: way easier on your back than the classic bent-over bike run 😅
Save this for when the training wheels come off this summer ☀️

Yesterday was something really special ✨

Our first PT & IBCLC Integrated Care Symposium is officially done and I’m still processing how incredible it was to be in a room (and virtual space!) filled with professionals all coming together with the same goal: better supporting families in feeding their babies.

I’m so grateful to everyone who attended, asked questions, shared perspectives, and helped make these conversations happen. Huge thank you to Dr. Forrester for such an insightful presentation, and to Ashley & Ashley for being the absolute best co-hosts through this whole process. And of course, Lizzy & Shay for all of the behind-the-scenes organization that kept everything running.

To be honest, I was SO nervous going into this. We’ve never hosted anything like this before, balancing both in-person and virtual attendance felt intimidating, and tech challenges are truly my nightmare 😅 But seeing the collaboration, engagement, and passion in the room made every stressful moment worth it.

One of the biggest things I took away from yesterday is just how many professionals are eager to learn, collaborate, and think outside the box when it comes to infant feeding support. Physiotherapists have such a valuable role in this space, and I’m incredibly grateful to be able to advocate for that alongside such amazing colleagues.

This feels like just the beginning ✨ Hoping we can continue growing this in the future, expanding these conversations, and building even more integrated support for families.

My heart is very full today. 💜
