Please join us as we celebrate 15 years of Blue Heron Midwives!
Since opening our doors 15 years ago, we have had the privilege of caring for thousands of families across Waterloo Region. Join us for an open house featuring light refreshments, family-friendly activities, and an opportunity to reconnect with our midwives and the community that has supported us along the way.
We would be delighted to celebrate this special milestone with you!

🎉 The numbers for 2025 are in! 🎉

A big congratulations to all our Blue Heron families who welcomed a little one in 2025 - what a wonderful year! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey.

⭐️ Almost an even split - 51% baby boys & 49% baby girls 💙🩷
⭐️ 20 beautiful home births 🏠
⭐️ Our wonderful midwife Gianna & her partner Davis welcomed a sweet baby boy, Johnny, on February 12th ♥️ (swipe for cuteness!)
⭐️ We had a 20% C-section rate (including elective CS), much lower than the provincial average of over 35%
⭐️ October was our busiest month with 23 births (including a Halloween baby 🎃)
⭐️ December 17th was our busiest day with 4 births 👶👶👶👶
⭐️ Jessica attended the most births as the primary midwife - 40!
⭐️ 6 babies named Noah & 3 babies named Abigail

We have a new midwifery student starting with us today! A warm welcome to Marie who has joined Shirley, Emily and Nikki on the Pink team 🩷 Check out her bio below! 👇

My name is Marie and I am a second year McMaster Midwifery student, and I am so excited to be joining Blue Heron Midwives!
I have long felt a calling to support pregnant women and to advocate for the kind of care that honours their values and lived experiences.
After graduating from Redeemer University in 2024 with a degree in Pre-Medicine, I knew I wanted to pursue a path that combined my fascination with pregnancy and birth with my passion for compassionate, client-centered care. 
I am incredibly grateful and excited to be joining the team at Blue Heron Midwives, and I look forward to learning from the families and midwives who make this community so special. My hope is to contribute to a supportive, respectful environment where every client feels heard and empowered.
Outside of midwifery, you can often find me outdoors exploring Ontario’s Provincial Parks, or in the kitchen baking goodies!
Thank you for welcoming me into your care. It is truly a privilege, and I look forward to meeting you!
