After 3 years in businessā€¦ā€I guess you could say things are getting pretty seriousā€.
(Tell me the movie this quote is from in the comments šŸ˜†)

It’s been an incredible 3 years of learning and growing.

Thank you to Centered Physiotherapy + Yoga for providing me with the great work space to operate my business in downtown Weyburn.

Thank you to every client that has booked an appointment and referred friends and family. It is an honour to have clients that trust me with their wellness journeys.

What started as a leap of faith has turned into one of the greatest growing seasons of my life. It hasn’t always been easy but it has most definitely always been worth it. This business allows me time to ensure I am present for two of the people that matter most, my sons. I appreciate that I have the ability to attend family events and set aside time for friends. It takes a village and this business would not exist without the support I have received from my family and friends over the years. I appreciate you all more than you know.

Cheers to 3 years! The best is yet to come ✨🫶

Many thanks to everyone keeping my schedule full lately!

Please note I will be out of office at different times throughout the summer while I prioritize my family.
June booking is also limited due to a couple memorial services, end of school functions and my own personal appointments. We are all human and my wish is that everyone takes time off when needed without guilt.

Please book ahead if possible and utilize my waitlist as cancellations are more frequent this time of year.

Wishing you all a sunny summer season! 🫶

1. Falling Asleep - You never need to apologize for resting and I take it as a compliment if you can relax enough to fall asleep during your treatment.
2. Talking or not talking - Some people chat to relax while others stay silent, both are completely okay.
3. Tummy noises - digestion is a natural response to relaxation.
4. Emotional release - tears, sighs, deep breaths, massage can bring up a lot of emotions. This session is yours so use as you see fit.
5. Unwashed hair and/or body hair - totally normal and totally fine.
6. Being slow to roll over or change positions - take your time, the most important thing is that you are comfortable.
7. Feeling self conscious - my treatment room is a safe and non-judgmental space.

You never need to apologize when you attend your massage treatment. We are all human and we are all similar. None of these things affect your session with me or how I see you.

My treatment room is a judgment free zone. A place where you can show up exactly as you are, without the need for excuses or apologies. Come in, breathe, relax and let go ✨

The purpose on your life is important, but so are you. You cannot pour from an empty cup and expect to stay strong.

Somewhere along the way we forgot that spending a day doing something we enjoy was medicine.

Somewhere along the way, wellness became another thing we feel pressure to perfect.

More routine, more rules, more optimization, more fixing ourselves.

Not everything that heals you, comes in a bottle, tracker or morning routine.

Some things simply remind your body that it’s safe to soften.

Breathe and stay present with what is placed in front of you.

Give your body rest when it’s tired.

Move your body because you’re grateful it can move.

Move naturally, not out of obligation.

I missed a bootcamp class this morning and felt guilty even though I knew my body needed the rest. (Cue the aura migraines.)
Sometimes it’s okay to move at a different pace and focus on different movement patterns.

Our health shapes how we lead, love and live. Let’s not take it for granted. ā¤ļø

I find as humans we are quick to apologize for what we deem to be ā€˜negative emotions or feelings’. I have caught myself apologizing for expressing my feelings on numerous occasions. I think it’s important to know you never have to apologize for expressing how you feel during your treatment session. You showing up and voicing your beliefs, feelings, aches and sensations is a gift for us - your healing doesn’t begin with me, it begins with you…and all the parts of you that feel comfortable enough to be seen, heard and held. You being in my space, alive to share your history, is a gift.🫶

If you have ever wondered why you feel stuffy when lying face down on a massage table here is why.
āž”ļøYour nose is line with turbinates. These are bony shelves wrapped in tissue that are packed with blood vessels. When you are standing upright, gravity pulls blood down and away from your head. Everything stays open and you can breathe easy. When you lay face down, that all changes. Blood moves toward your head. This causes the tissues in your nose to swell and your passages to narrow. That stuffiness is often your blood vessels, and not your sinuses filling up with mucus. Gravity might also be sending some mucus forward which is why you feel the need to blow your nose after turning over. This is called positional nasal congestion.
I always have Kleenex on hand please so never be afraid to ask for a tissue.

Have you ever wondered what your body is trying to tell you? I hear over and over again after a treatment that an individual had no idea they were holding that much stress. Sometimes we need to take a step away from our day to day activities to lean in and listen to our bodies. There are many different options that help us tune into our bodies. I believe massage is one of the tools that can provide some insight into what our body is holding. As a massage therapist I listen with my hands. I can’t always tell you why you are feeling what you are feeling but I can help you to release some of the tension you are holding. The body, unlike our mind is not able to perform okayness. May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month in Canada. Let’s do ourselves a favour this month and tune into what our body is trying to tell us.

Legs up the Wall is a gentle restorative pose used in yoga, somatic therapy and nervous system regulation practices.

This pose activates the parasympathetic nervous system (your rest and digest state).
It stimulates the vagus nerve, helping regulate anxiety, emotional overwhelm and stress.
It gently reduces heart rate and blood pressure.
It supports lymphatic drainage and improves circulation, especially in the lower body.

How to do it:
1. Find a clear wall and a yoga mat, towel or blanket for comfort.
2. Sit sideways against a wall with one hip touching it.
3. Gently move your legs up the wall as you lower your back to the floor.
4. Adjust your sitting bones as close to the wall as is comfortable. If you are new to this pose it is okay to start further away from the wall. If you have tight hamstrings you can keep a slight bend in the knee.
5. Let your arms rest by your sides with your palms up.
6. Close your eyes, breathe slowly, and maintain the pose for 5-15 minutes. If that timeframe feels too long, move out of this position when it feels right for you.
7. To come out, bend your knees and gently roll to one side. Rest for a few breaths before sitting up.

Bonus points if you find a cute sidekick to join you 🫶
