🏒 🏈 Sports injuries happen. Getting you back to your sport is the goal.

With a background in sports and years of experience working with athletes, I treat many of the aches and injuries that come with hockey, football, volleyball, lacrosse and other sports.

Whether it’s a sore shoulder, pulled muscle, nagging hip, ankle injury or something that just isn’t moving the way it should, treatment is focused on reducing pain, restoring movement and helping you get back to playing.

My treatments may include RAPID NeuroFascial Reset, therapeutic massage, myofascial techniques and IASTM—choosing the approach that best fits the injury and the athlete.

And when appropriate, I can provide simple take-home exercises through PREHAB to support what we’re working on in the clinic.

Let's work together to get you back in the game.

You might notice something new in the treatment room…

I’ve recently added IASTM — Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization to the treatments I offer.

That’s a long name for something pretty simple: using specially designed tools to work on muscles, tendons and other soft tissues that are sore, stiff or just not moving the way they should.

So does this replace RAPID?

Not at all.

RAPID Neurofascial Reset continues to be a big part of how I treat. But one thing I’ve learned over the years is that not every problem — and not every person — responds the same way to treatment.

Sometimes RAPID is the right choice.

Sometimes traditional massage techniques work best.

And sometimes a stubborn tendon, tight muscle or area that just won't settle down may respond well to a different approach.

That's where IASTM gives us another option.

I've never believed that one treatment technique is the answer to everything. The goal isn't to use my favourite technique — it's to figure out what is going to work best for the problem in front of me.**

Adding IASTM simply gives me another tool to do that.

So if you see the new stainless-steel tools in the treatment room, now you know what they're for.

And yes… we'll still be doing lots of RAPID!

Plantar Fasciitis: What If Your Foot Isn’t the Problem?

If the bottom of your heel hurts, it makes sense to treat the bottom of your heel.

But here’s something I see in the clinic all the time:

Where you hurt isn’t always where the problem is coming from.

Plantar fasciitis is a good example.

Your foot doesn’t work by itself. Every time you take a step, your foot, ankle and lower leg all have to work together.

If your ankle isn’t moving as well as it should, or your calf has become tight and stiff, your foot may have to do more work to make up for it.

Eventually, the bottom of the foot can become sore and irritated.

That’s why simply rubbing the sore spot, rolling it on a ball or stretching the bottom of your foot doesn't always solve the problem.

Sometimes we need to look a little farther away.

- How is your ankle moving?
- How does your calf feel?
- Is one leg moving differently than the other?

The sore spot still matters. But if we only treat where it hurts, we may be missing an important part of the problem.

That’s one of the things I enjoy about treating stubborn problems like plantar fasciitis — figuring out why that area became sore in the first place.

Women 40–60: Is your shoulder becoming painful and increasingly difficult to move?**

It starts with an ache. Then reaching behind your back gets harder. Putting on a jacket hurts. Reaching overhead becomes difficult. Sleeping on that side can become almost impossible.

It could be frozen shoulder.

Frozen shoulder is particularly common in women during the same stage of life when many are experiencing perimenopause and menopause. Researchers are investigating whether hormonal changes may play a role in the inflammation and connective-tissue changes involved.

Whatever the cause, the combination of pain + stiffness + progressively decreasing movement can be incredibly frustrating.

This is where RAPID Neurofascial Reset may help.

RAPID is an active, movement-based treatment approach that targets painful and restricted areas of the body. Rather than simply massaging the muscles around the shoulder, treatment combines specific manual pressure with movement to address pain and restricted function.

With frozen shoulder, the goal isn't to aggressively force your shoulder through painful ranges. It's to reduce pain, improve comfortable movement and help you function better while the shoulder recovers.**

If you're in your 40s, 50s or 60s and your shoulder seems to be getting stiffer, more painful and harder to use - don't ignore it.

Quick note — I've got some openings in the schedule over the next week or two, and I'd rather fill them than leave them empty.

It's peak season for the stuff that keeps my table busy: golf, gardening, haying, hauling camper gear. If your shoulders or low back have been working harder than they did in March, or there's something you've been meaning to get looked at, this is a good window to do it.

Reply to this email or call the clinic at [phone] and I'll find you a time that works.
