If you live in B.C. Canada and you plan to birth in a hospital.. PLEASE for the sake of your baby, get educated on Pitocin augmentation & other “standard routine” interventions.
It’s happening way too often that “failure to wait” is confused with “failure to progress” the wording is made for you to believe you(your body) is the issue when really it’s our medical system being too understaffed to handle physiological birth for everyone in hospitals.
Unless you walk in educated, informed, confident and empowered + VERY far along in labour.. you will be faced with interventions the moment you walk in the door.
You need to do what’s best for you, and that’s different for everyone.. but can you really make the best decision for your baby if you don’t comprehensively understand your options?
