Dry, burning, watery, irritated eyes are NOT something you simply have to “live with.” 👁️✨

Dry eye disease is incredibly common — and often caused by inflammation, poor oil gland function, environmental factors, screen time, aging, medications, or underlying health conditions. While artificial tears may provide temporary relief, they often don’t address the root cause of the problem.

At MB Optometry, we offer advanced dry eye therapies designed to target the underlying causes of dry eye and help provide longer-lasting relief:

✨ Radiofrequency (RF) Therapy✨ Intense Pulse Light (IPL)✨ PRGF (Platelet-Rich Growth Factor) Drops✨ Amniotic Membranes✨ Punctal Plugs✨ ZEST Lid Hygiene Treatments

These treatments can help:
✔️ Improve tear quality
✔️ Reduce inflammation
✔️ Restore healthier oil gland function
✔️ Soothe irritated ocular tissues
✔️ Reduce dependency on artificial tears
✔️ Improve comfort for contact lens wear and screen use

Every patient’s dry eye is different — which is why we customize treatment plans based on your specific symptoms and findings.

If your eyes constantly feel tired, gritty, watery, sensitive to light, or uncomfortable, it may be time to explore treatment options beyond drops.

Myopia is becoming increasingly common worldwide — and it’s more than just needing glasses to see far away.

👁️ What is Myopia?

Myopia (nearsightedness) occurs when the eye grows too long, called an increased axial length. Instead of light focusing directly on the retina, it focuses in front of it, causing blurry distance vision.

📈 Why are we seeing more myopia?

The incidence of myopia is rising dramatically, especially in children. Experts estimate that by 2050, nearly 50% of the world’s population may be myopic.

⚠️ Risk Factors for Myopia:
• Family history/genetics
• Increased screen time & near work
• Reduced time outdoors
• Rapid eye growth during development

🔍 Why does axial length matter?

Myopia is not simply a “prescription problem.” As the eye elongates, the tissues inside the eye become stretched and thinner over time.

Higher levels of myopia are associated with increased risk of:
• Retinal tears & retinal detachment
• Myopic macular degeneration
• Glaucoma
• Cataracts
• Permanent vision loss later in life

The higher the prescription, the greater the risk.

✨ The good news: Modern myopia management treatments can help slow the progression of myopia and reduce excessive eye growth.

Early intervention matters. The sooner myopia progression is addressed, the better the opportunity to help protect long-term ocular health.

If you have concerns about your child’s vision or increasing prescription changes, our team would be happy to discuss myopia management options.

Not all glasses are created equal.

While ordering eyewear online may seem convenient, studies have shown concerning rates of errors in online eyewear orders.

📊 One landmark study found that 44.8% of glasses ordered online failed to meet safety standards or contained incorrect prescriptions.
📊 Another study reported that nearly 1 in 10 online spectacle prescriptions failed to meet national optical quality standards.
📊 Some Canadian reports have also shown that up to 81% of online eyewear arrived with incorrect prescriptions, while many failed impact resistance testing or lacked proper fitting measurements.

Why does this happen?

Because clear, comfortable vision depends on far more than just your prescription. Proper eyewear fitting requires multiple highly precise measurements that can only truly be taken with the frame physically on your face.

At MB Optometry, we customize every pair of glasses using measurements such as:
• Pupillary Distance (PD)
• Segment Height
• Vertex Distance
• Pantoscopic Tilt
• Frame Wrap & Positioning
• Lens Centration

These measurements help ensure:
✔ Sharper vision
✔ Better comfort
✔ Reduced eye strain & headaches
✔ Improved progressive lens adaptation
✔ Proper lens performance and safety

Online retailers often rely on estimated or self-entered measurements, which simply cannot account for how a frame sits on your unique facial anatomy.

Your glasses are medical devices — not just fashion accessories.

At MB Optometry, we combine advanced technology, expert measurements, and personalized care to ensure your eyewear performs exactly the way it should.

Because better measurements = better vision.
