Peer Appreciation Week 2026

This Peer Appreciation Week, Pozitive Pathways Community Services is proud to join ABRPO/TTOA and organizations across Ontario and Canada in celebrating and recognizing the incredible contributions of Peers.

Peers bring so much more than their time to this work. They bring lived and living experience, knowledge, compassion, leadership, advocacy, connection, and a unique understanding of the communities we serve.

Within our own Peer Engagement programs at Pozitive Pathways, we see firsthand the difference Peers make, supporting one another, sharing knowledge, challenging stigma, creating safer spaces, leading conversations, and helping strengthen the connection between our organization and our community.

Peer Appreciation Week gives us an opportunity to:
🎆 Celebrate the knowledge, expertise, and impact that comes from lived and living experience
🎆 Recognize Peer leadership in HIV, harm reduction, education, advocacy, and community support
🎆 Honour the time, care, emotional labour, and compassion Peers bring to this work
🎆 Continue creating meaningful opportunities for Peer voices to be heard, valued, and included

At the heart of Peer work is an important principle: “Nothing About Us Without Us.”Meaningful Peer involvement makes our programs, services, and communities stronger.

Pozitive Pathways will be closed on September 30th as we stand in solidarity, observe and recognize National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. We will be reopening on October 1st at 9:00am!

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the lives lost to overdose and stand with everyone who continues to grieve, love, and advocate. 💜

Overdose is preventable. Every life is worth saving. Every person deserves compassion, support, and the chance to be here tomorrow.

Today, we remember. We honour. We continue to fight for a world without overdose. 🕊️💜

August is Overdose Awareness Month. 💜

Throughout this month, we’ll be sharing the voices of our staff, community partners, peers, volunteers, and service users as we recognize Overdose Awareness Month and International Overdose Awareness Day.

We’ve invited members of our community to reflect on what overdose awareness means to them - whether it’s a message of hope, a personal story, words of encouragement, or a tribute to someone they’ve lost.

By sharing these voices, we hope to honour those we’ve lost, support those who continue to grieve, reduce stigma, and remind our community that every life matters.

We invite you to follow along throughout the month as we amplify these stories and reflections. Together, we can create space for remembrance, compassion, hope, and action.
