The other times I'm on board with cervical checks before labour is if you want a stretch and sweep. Otherwise, why bother being uncomfortable 🙃

Things to look out for when your water breaks to make sure it is safe to stay home or return home after confirming it's broken are things like the color and odor of the fluid. (Checking for the presence of meconium) Making sure you still feel your baby move regularly. They should still be happy and moving regularly throughout labour regardless of water being broken or not.

Contractions typically start within 24 hours of your water breaking, and plans might change for comfort measures during labor to help reduce the risk of infection. But just because they don't tell you its an option to go home or not start Pitocin, doesn't mean it isn't.
