Ramona Martens Counselling

Ramona Martens Counselling Hi. I’m Ramona. I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor at MENZIES ProCare in Winkler and Morden Manitoba. I am accepting new clients, adults and teens.

I’m Ramona Martens Wiebe. I’m a trained Professional counsellor at MENZIES ProCare in Morden and soon in Winkler Manitoba. I am currently accepting new clients. I provide a safe and compassionate space where you, your story and your goals matter. I believe that everyone is doing the best they can with what they know, and that people can do better when they know better. And that is where counselling comes in- a place to learn new ways and new skills to use.

Taking time to pause is an important part of caring for ourselves, and I’m grateful I had the opportunity to do just that. Now I’m returning with renewed energy and presence for the work we do together.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a session or picking up where we left off, my schedule is open and I’d love to see you. You can email me at [email protected] or book online at menziesprocare.com.
Welcome back to current clients, and a warm welcome to anyone new who’s joining this journey.

Hope. Even when things are hard. Unfair. Not as we imagined. Hope that good and growth can still be happening even when we don’t see it or feel it yet. Last night I once again watered the dirt by my sticks marking where I’d planted seeds. I had no idea if the seeds would germinate. And hidden from sight, these small shoots were coming towards the light. And today, they stand with fresh green leaves, where they were hidden yesterday. Maybe you are struggling to hold onto hope these days. I encourage you to send a message or make an appointment to be with someone who will hold hope for you until you are able to. You can always reach out to see me or I can help you find someone to walk towards hope and healing with you.

Ever feel anxious, overwhelmed, or uncertain when heading out of town for an appointment? I used to feel anxious and dread the day, knowing the ride there would leave me exhausted. The night before I’d watch the clock to see how much time I had left to try to sleep. I’d check and recheck my clock to be sure the alarm was still set. Worst-case scenarios would play in my head. And in the morning, I’d struggle to find clothes comfortable for the day ahead. I’d rush around getting ready and feel flustered about the daunting day ahead.
A helpful DBT skill for moments like this is Cope Ahead—preparing for a stressful situation by mentally rehearsing how you want to cope.
Before your appointment, take a few moments to imagine the day step by step. Picture yourself getting ready, traveling to the city, where to find parking, sitting in the waiting room, and meeting with the specialist. Notice any emotions that may arise, and then visualize yourself responding with calm, confidence, and self-compassion.
What coping skills might help?
• Deep breathing
• Grounding exercises
• Positive self-talk
• Bringing a support person
• Planning a comforting activity afterward
You can’t control every outcome, but you can prepare for how you want to care for yourself through it. And in my opinion, treating myself to a coffee always helps me.

What do you need this weekend? Often we enter a weekend exhausted yet have a long to-do list for all the things we neglected at home. I encourage you to take a pause, to simply rest. You are worth taking care of too.

Boundary Trails DBT is currently accepting clients into its comprehensive DBT program. If you are ready to build real-life coping skills and feel more in control, support is available. I am part of the Boundary Trails intensive DBT program, as a co-leader in the weekly skills group and an individual therapy provider for clients within the program.

Curious about DBT? Think of DBT as a practical toolkit for handling life’s emotional ups and downs. Instead of getting stuck in overwhelming feelings or reacting in ways you later regret, DBT teaches you how to pause, understand what’s happening inside you, and choose a more helpful response.

At its core, DBT is about balancing two things at once:
-Accepting yourself as you are
-Learning skills to create meaningful change

You’ll build skills to:
• Stay grounded when emotions feel intense
• Handle stressful situations without spiraling
• Respond instead of react
• Communicate your needs while respecting others

A gentle reminder to prioritize self-care.
Spring break is over, the kids are back to school but instead of feeling refreshed, you feel exhausted. Your “to do” list is long and overwhelming, your home feels disorganized and you haven’t had a moment to yourself. Before you add another task to your list, take a moment to pause, breathe deeply and do something to take care of yourself today.
🪴 Slow down. What do you need right now? Choose to look after yourself today.

You don’t have to be “at your breaking point” to go to counselling. Wanting a safe place to be heard by someone who isn’t a friend can be all you need.
Counselling isn’t just for crisis, it’s for growth, clarity, and learning how to care for yourself in a deeper way. Sometimes the most meaningful work happens in a session when you don’t know what you want to talk about.
You might go to counselling to:
• Understand your emotions instead of feeling overwhelmed by them
• Learn healthier ways to cope with stress and anxiety
• Heal from past experiences that still affect you
• Feel heard, seen, and supported without judgment
• Break patterns that keep repeating in relationships
• Reconnect with who you are and what matters to you
You deserve a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out.
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is say,
“I don’t want to carry this alone anymore.”
🪴 Together, we can rebuild, renew and restore.
