Welcome to Inner Strength Counselling & Wellness 🤍

I’m Stephanie, a mental health counsellor passionate about helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, relationships, and life’s more complex emotional experiences. My work is grounded in a trauma informed and strength based approach, creating a space where people can explore their experiences safely and reconnect with their inner resilience.

Alongside my clinical work, I am also currently a PhD student in Neuropsychology, continuing to deepen my understanding of the brain, trauma, and the processes that support healing and growth.

Through this page, I hope to share insights about mental health, emotional wellbeing, and the therapeutic process while also offering tools, reflections, and education that may help people better understand themselves.

Healing is not about becoming someone new. It is often about reconnecting with the strength that has always been there.

One of the common misconceptions about therapy is that it is supposed to make you feel better immediately after every session. However, this is not always the case. While therapy is designed to help you cope with your emotions and improve your mental health, it is a gradual process that requires time, patience, and effort.

Therapy sessions can often bring up difficult emotions and memories that you may have been avoiding or suppressing. It is natural to feel vulnerable or emotionally drained after a session, and it may take time to process and integrate the insights and strategies discussed in the session.

It is important to remember that therapy is not a quick fix. It is a journey that involves self-exploration, reflection, and the development of new skills and perspectives. The benefits of therapy are often cumulative, and you may start to notice positive changes in your mood, behavior, and relationships over time. So, while therapy may not provide immediate relief, it can be a valuable investment in your long-term well-being.

It involves acknowledging and addressing one's physical, mental, and emotional needs, which are crucial for maintaining overall well-being. Self-love and self-care encompass a wide range of activities that aim to improve the quality of life, such as setting boundaries to prevent exhaustion, indulging in activities that bring joy and relaxation, and engaging in practices that promote mindfulness and inner peace.

To achieve optimal health and wellness, one must nourish the body with healthy food, exercise regularly, get adequate rest, and engage in practices that promote mental and emotional well-being. Let's talk about mental health!

I think there needs to be more conversations about mental health and how important it is to ensure you are looking after yourself.

This is an important initiative to improve the understanding of mental health conditions and to increase access to healthcare for those who need it.

Mental health is important because it can help people cope with stress, be physically healthy, have good relationships, make meaningful contributions to communities, work productively, and help pepper realize their fullest potential.
