Positive Perspectives and Wellness Through Connection birthed a new student consult group today called ✨Wellness Through Perspectives✨

The Graduate Students from both practices came together to connect about all aspects practicum related.

It can be commonly heard that private practice can feel isolating and so we wanted to foster community that brings together the triumphs and challenges of our work.

Student lead peer groups are a beautiful way to combine experience in the field with wisdom and fresh insights✨

let the questions breathe.
the ones that keep circling your mind. while you wash dishes or sit at red lights. you don’t have to have the answers yet. some things are meant to unfold slow and out of order.
maybe the job doesn’t call back. or the plan changes again. but your favorite song finds you in the grocery store.
someone texts you out of nowhere just to say they were thinking of you. you realize this is what hope looks like. not clarity, but comfort in the in-between. not certainty, but noticing that light hits the floor even when you’re unsure where to step next.

Story time about my lil’ dream…

You know that feeling when you wake up from a dream that feels so intense and meaningful that you want to tell somebody about it right away?

That was my experience last night. I dreamt that a New World order was put in place.

Leaders from opposing ideologies who wanted to go to war would first have to enter an art room and create something together.

It could be a painting, a quilt, a dance, a mural, a play, a poem, etc. The instructions were clear. Create something beautiful without ego & without using any words.

I woke up feeling hopeful and excited to share this dream. It seemed to open up a world of possibility and another way of navigating conflict.

Imagine this is what we had to do with the people in our lives when interpersonal volcanoes erupted?

Instead of harming with bombs and words, we would depart the interaction with something beautiful. Time together and an art piece combining different perspectives, different possibilities.

Did you know that research shows that the opposite of creativity is maladaptive and harmful behaviour?

Makes you think, if we don’t create for the sake of it, the consequences can be dire. Art is medicine and a tonic for desperate times.

It has been 10.5 years social working and 6 years of Wellness Through Connection for Lana & every beautiful soul involved!
