I had the honour of joining the HKL (Humility, Kindness & Love) walk with the fam, starting at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and making our way to the Exchange District.

Along the way, the members handed out food and colourful roses to people on the street, many experiencing homelessness. I felt a lot of different emotions as I did this walk with my kids last night.

Often we walk by people without looking up, our heads down at our phone, avoiding eye contact or even a smile. Last night I looked up and I saw tears, smiles and people holding the roses as if they meant the world to them. And in that moment, I was reminded that beneath our circumstances, we are all human. We all need love. We all deserve to feel seen.

On the drive home Jugaad said, “Mom, it was crazy seeing them cry and be so happy holding a flower.” I think something clicked for him last night that was amazing to see. He didn’t just see people experiencing homelessness. He saw people. People with feelings, stories and a need for connection and love, just like the rest of us 😭.

Sometimes, the smallest gesture can remind someone that they matter. A granola bar. A rose. A smile. Just acknowledgement.

This whole experience reminded me that humanity has no labels, and compassion shouldn’t have any conditions.

Thank you, HKL, for reminding us what it looks like to lead with humility, kindness and love. ❤️ So happy we found each other and looking forward to more events like this one.

Such a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the Teddy Bear’s Picnic! I got to enjoy the picnic not as an optometrist… but as a mama🧸💗

Jind brought her beloved teddy for an eye check up, and my colleagues did the very important work of checking her vision and getting her some custom reading glasses.

A great reminder for parents on just how important routine eye exams are for their little ones. These little eyes are learning, growing and taking in SO much every day!

A special shoutout to our own Imrose for helping organize the Insight Pre-Optometry Club’s involvement with the Manitoba Association of Optometrists. So cool to see some future optometrists already out there giving back and promoting children’s vision care!

Hope it was a great Teddy Bear’s Picnic for everyone and that all the bears left with happy, healthy eyes! 🧸

Such a beautiful weekend in Calgary! The perfect mix of learning, reconnecting, celebrating and a whole lot of good food and drinks! 🥣🍹
From the dry eye bootcamp, reconnecting with the InMode crew, catching up with old ICO friends, making new ones, getting a tour inside a colleague’s clinic, I’m leaving SO inspired!

So nice being able to celebrate you radhaa8 ! The spontaneous plans are sometimes the best plans!

Definately one of those trips that leaves you feeling more recharged, inspired and grateful-the tank is full again.

Thanks for the recharge, friends. Until next time ✌🏽

A mindful morning at Matlock Beach with gentle yoga with Debbie from Open Concept Yoga, and traditional Himalayan sound healing with Swati.

Such a beautiful and meaningful way to collaborate. As a busy optometry mom, I’m so often in “go, go, go” mode that I forget what it feels like to simply…..flow, just slow down, reconnect and be present in the moment.

The universe really aligned this weekend. We were already staying at the cabin, and happened to find out this amazing class was happening nearby. It felt too perfectly timed to pass up and the best part- my dear friend Wendy could join! Amazing doing this with you ❤️.

I didn’t realize how badly I needed this until I was there….felt like my body unlocked with my mind.

We could all use more movement, more stillness, more journaling, more reflecting, and remembering to put ourselves back on the list, too. I’m officially ready for this change in season, thank you Debbie and Swati 🙏🏽🤍🫶🏽.

We had so much fun styling Andrew in his new frames! He went with a beautiful spectacle eyeworks frame with transition lenses and an aviator Fendi 😎👌

Spent the morning at Scout’s social Club .coffeecommunity , chatting with new mamas about baby milestones and the importance of children’s eye health.

The timing couldn’t have been better, with Children’s Vision Day happening tomorrow across Manitoba!

It’s always so special connecting with new moms who are navigating motherhood for the first time, I remember those days! I hope sharing why early eye exams are such an important part of a child’s development helps these mamas make eye exams a regular part of their little one’s healthcare routine.

Hey Manitoba families! It’s back to school time 📚🔔

Did you know that only 16% of Manitoba children had an eye exam in 2025? 🤯
That means a lot of kids may be heading into the school year without having had their vision checked!

That’s why Manitoba’s optometrists are coming together for Manitoba Children’s Vision Day on September 2, 2026!
Academy Optical is participating and we’re making it a fun day for the kids!

We will have:

⭐️Fun crafts

⭐️Babiator sunglasses for kids with booked appointments

⭐️Treats/Snacks

⭐️Photo Booth

❤️ And a fun experience around getting their eyes checked!

Some important reminders for parents:

-Kids are covered for an eye exam through Manitoba Health every year until age 18.

-If your child is starting Kindergarten this year and needs glasses, they may be eligible for a free pair through the Kindergarten Free Pair Program.

Even if your child has no complaints about their vision, an eye exam is an important part of the back-to-school checklist. Good vision supports reading, learning, attention and overall school success 💪🏽
