It's Labour Day.

Labour Day honours the sacrifices and achievements of workers who held rallies in the 1870's to fight for the shorter 9 hour work day.

Please take this day to rest and remember that while we have jobs to do, we also need to find balance to recuperate and be at our best.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR MANITOBA MASSAGE THERAPISTS

The Remedial Massage Therapists Society of Manitoba (RMTSMB) has received official confirmation from Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care that the Minister of Health has appointed the Transitional Council for the College of Massage Therapists of Manitoba.

This is a significant milestone toward the regulation of Massage Therapy in Manitoba and the establishment of our profession’s first regulatory College.

The Transitional Council will lead the work of developing the regulatory framework, including registration requirements, standards of practice, continuing competency requirements, by-laws, and a code of ethics. The Council will also engage professional associations and stakeholders throughout the process.

RMTSMB recognizes that the appointed members bring a diverse range of experience, including board and committee experience, involvement with professional associations, educational experience, and public interest perspectives.

RMTSMB looks forward to participating appropriately in the consultation process and ensuring the voices and perspectives of Manitoba massage therapists are heard.

We will continue to keep our members informed as this important work progresses.

A new chapter for Massage Therapy in Manitoba begins.

It's been non-stop heat this summer!

It can be wonderful to finally be enjoying the heat but it's also important to stay safe while enjoying the weather.

-Drink plenty of water, the best way to stay safe is to stay hydrated.
-Wear sun screen if you're out in the sun, even if it's cloudy out.
-Try to stay out of the sun during peak UV times to avoid sun burns.
- Wear a hat to protect your scalp.
- Visit a local beach or pool to cool off

Be aware of the signs of heat sickness. If you're starting to feel sick, get out of the sun and cool yourself down.

Stay safe this summer.
