Pediatric Research in Oncology in Manitoba: Innovation, Science, Excellence (PROMISE) is the only inter-institutional research framework in Manitoba dedicated to improve outcomes for children, adolescents and young adults living with cancer.

In 2025, PROMISE launched a new website, held their first annual research day and launched Madox's Warriors Graduate Studentship competition.

We're excited to welcome Dr. Karen Fung-Kee-Fung to this year's CHRD conference this October!

Dr. Fung-Kee-Fung's clinical work focuses on some of the most complex pregnancies, including alloimmune disease, fetal therapy, and complex multiple gestations.

Her presentation, "Fetal Therapy… A Window of Opportunity for Disease Modification," will explore the potential of fetal therapy to improve outcomes before birth.

Did you know that compared to the national average of 3.7%, Manitoba has a higher proportion of youth aged 0-14 years who live with a disability? The ENRRICH theme acts to generate and advance research to improve the health of children and youth with neurodevelopmental and rehabilitation needs in Manitoba, central Nunavut, and northern Ontario.

We're pleased to welcome CHRIM investigator Dr. Bob Schroth to the 22nd Annual Child Health Research Days conference!

Dr. Schroth is a global leader in early childhood caries and will be sharing his research on oral health disparities in Canada, as well as discussing recent developments in Canada, such as the Canadian Caries Risk Assessment Tool and the introduction of the Interim Canada Dental Benefit.

PhD candidate Julie-Anne McCarthy will join us at CHRD later this year to share their research on the prevalence of child maltreatment. Her talk will also explore mental health challenges among youth, as well as protective factors within the youth's life that may protect their mental health.
