Marie-Anne Péloquin (née Chartier)

It is with deep sadness that Marie-Anne Péloquin’s children announce her passing on July 30, 2026 at the Health Sciences Center surrounded by her loving family.

Marie-Anne was born on July 21, 1936 in St. Lazare Manitoba to Henri and Leatitia Chartier. She was the third youngest of eleven children: Albert, Leopold, Lorette, Irene, Alphonse, Cecile, Jean, Jeanne, Marie-Anne, Claire and Majella.

On October 21, 1953, Marie-Anne married Lucien Joseph Péloquin in St. Lazare. Together they built a life centered on faith, family and hospitality. In 1961 they relocated to Brandon, Manitoba where they raised their family.

Mom leaves to cherish her memory, her five children:

Edith (Herb) Summerfeldt, Luke (Kelly) Péloquin, Brigette (Bob) Bazin, Laure (Rod) Brecht, Henri (Greer) Péloquin.

She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Jennifer, Danielle (Kevin), Arianne (Chris), Paul (Jillane), Emily (Justin), Kyle, Charlie (Talia), Dillon, Taylor and Celine (Cassidy). She was a proud great-grandmother to: Keenan, Shea, Amara, Lawson, Elliot, Kinley, Lex, Grady, Ivy and Cade.

She is also survived by her last remaining sibling, Claire Levac of Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan.

Marie-Anne was the matriarch of her family; hospitality was her defining gift. Her home was always open, and she poured her heart and soul into feeding family, friends and anyone fortunate enough to gather around her table. She was especially known for her homemade bread and cinnamon buns.

A devote Catholic, Marie-Anne’s faith was the foundation of her life. The Rosary was a daily source of strength and comfort, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary remained central to her faith. Her path to Heaven was paved in Rosary Beads.

Her French language and Franco-Manitoban heritage were also deeply important to her. She took great pride in preserving her language and faith, passing these values on to future generations.

Warm, welcoming and sociable, our mother formed many lasting friendships. During her time at Residence Despins, she developed special bonds with her fellow residents and the compassionate staff.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses and staff at Health Sciences Centre as well as the staff of Residence Despins for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to our mother.

In accordance to our mother’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Funeral Service will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel on Saturday August 8, 2026 at 2:00pm at 357 DesMeurons Street.

Mom’s cremated remains will be laid to rest in the family plot at Brandon Cemetery, where she will be reunited with Dad in eternal peace.

Richard Manuel Sanchez
November 7, 1966 – July 15, 2026

After a long battle with declining health, it is with great sadness that we say goodbye for now to our beloved Richard aka “Spanky”.

Richard is survived by his dedicated wife of twenty years Nadine, brother Mark, sister Sandra, and his many nieces and nephews here at home as well as in the Philippines.

He is predeceased by his parents Dennis Sanchez and Doreen Caissie.

Richard was born in Etobicoke, Ontario and was the eldest of three siblings. His family eventually settled in Winnipeg where Richard grew up and lived the majority of his life in Elmwood. Richard loved music, poetry, art, cooking, and video games.

Richard worked many jobs in his lifetime. He worked as an usher in several movie theatres in Winnipeg, bartender at a handful of nightclubs, cab driver for Spring Taxi, and mostly as a power engineer, and custodian at Bernie Wolfe school.

R.I.P. Richard, Knowing you was quite an experience full of love and laughs. Miss you already.

Family and friends may sign a book of condolence at www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca.
