The Orton-Gillingham Academy: the language triangle is a teaching tool that connects visual, auditory, and kinesthetic/tactile pathways to help students learn reading and spelling at the same time. Core Parts of the Triangle. Visual: Seeing the letters, graphemes, or printed words with your eyes. Auditory: Hearing and saying the sounds or spoken words out loud. The Big Ideas in Beginning Reading project was developed by researchers at CTL with the objective of promoting free, effective, evidence-based reading instruction.

….We published the original maxims in 2023 and we've refined them now to accomplish three primary goals:

First, to emphasize explicitly the primacy of language in becoming a skilled reader and writer.
Second, to recognize that language development begins in utero, well before school begins, and accumulates over time, shaping reading acquisition, academic achievement, and broader life outcomes.
And third, to remind all readers of the maxims that the converging science is applicable for all learners. There is now additional research to validate instructional approaches that best support those who speak languages other than General American English at home. These variations in language are assets that actually leverage learning.

After years of determination, hard work, and commitment to high standards and strong fidelity - I have achieved Fellow membership with the Orton-Gillingham Academy.

A Fellow of the Orton-Gillingham Academy (F/OGA) is the highest level of certification awarded by the Orton-Gillingham Academy. Fellows are certified, independent practitioners authorized to teach, supervise, and mentor other educators through all levels of OGA certification. Because the Academy does not directly conduct training itself, all training is administered and supervised by these Fellows.

Fellows can teach, tutor, supervise, develop, and conduct trainings at the following levels and recommend OGA membership for individuals they have trained: Subscriber, Classroom Educator, Associate Level, Clinical Level, Clinical Supervisor, and Fellow.

What a Fellow Does
Educates and Mentors: Fellows design and deliver rigorous, approved coursework for Associate and Certified level training.

Supervises Practicums: They oversee the required supervised practicums that trainees must complete.

Sets the Standards: Fellows ensure all trainees follow the strict curriculum standards and multi-sensory principles established by the Academy.

What could be better than spending several days in Accredited OGA training in July? Absolutely nothing better!
