Sometimes self-care is having a week off work and getting some stuff done that you haven’t been able to find time to do in months (years?).

Today I’m getting all my family photos that are in old phones, SD cards, and on CDs put onto a USB. I’m also recycling 3 old computers and finally getting them out of my house. Getting this done is taking a load off my mind and giving me some mental peace.

I’m back at work next week if anyone wants to book in for another kind of self care. 💜

(On Monday me, my girls and my oldest’s partner went to walk along Corydon Ave and Anika drew us on this “self portrait” board. Our little family 💜)

It can’t always be work - there must also be some play (plays??). Fringing on beautiful Tuesday summer afternoon. 😎😎😎

A little video about your brain…

Spending another beautiful day seeing clients at the St Norbert Arts Centre - today it is hot and windy outside, but just right inside the treatment room. 😎

We just got home from Duck Mountain!! 😊😊😊

We are so grateful for all the people who kept us safe, fed, and got us out: the park patrols, the conservation officers, all the other Manitoba government folks in their trucks driving around, the folks in the helicopters, all the people who built the temporary roads, and we even saw the Dauphin fire department helping out as we left the park this morning.

Also very grateful to our friends, the owners of the Blue Lake Resort (owners of the store and rental cabins at the lake). They were an amazing hub for everything that was happening - keeping us informed of any updates and letting everyone keep their phones charged through the 2 days of no power thanks to their generator.

So happy to be home. 😊

“Restorative environments work differently because they invite what researchers often call soft fascination. The setting is interesting enough to hold attention, but not so demanding that it captures the mind completely. Watching water move is a good example. It changes constantly, but not urgently. It gives the eye and mind something to follow without requiring a decision every few seconds.”

Go to the ocean, go to the lake, go to the river…. 💜

Blue-space research suggests that water settings may support mood and attention, but the evidence is best read carefully rather than as a universal cure.

Beautiful day at work today at the St Norbert Ruins. Windows wide open, gentle breezes and birdsong. Almost like working outside in nature. So relaxing. 🌺🌷🕊️
