Chronic disease doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built over years.

Your body responds to what environment you’ve created for it.

Poor sleep. Constant stress. Ignoring symptoms. Not seeking optimal healthcare. Quick and easy high sugar foods. Little exercise. This can gradually lead to high insulin and chronic inflammation.

The good news is those same daily steps are what get you out of this.

Daily movement
Anti inflammatory foods
Good sleeps
Functional labs

One of the most destabilizing parts of perimenopause isn’t the hot flashes.

It’s the cognitive shift.

Your brain feels slower, focus feels harder, resilience feels lower and your mental sharpness is gone.

You’re the person everyone depends on, but thinking and planning and organizing is so much harder.

Hormonal changes impact memory, focus, dopamine, serotonin, motivation and executive function.

You go for labs but they come back normal. You’re told it’s stress or anxiety or because you have kids.

But no one has checked the hormonal-neurological connection.

Perimenopause is a major brain transition. It’s not fatigue or aging. It’s a hormonal drop off.

Women deserve to understand what is happening in their body and be given the chance to feel better.

If you’ve not had your hormones checked and assessed for optimal levels, dm us for an appointment.

Anxiety in perimenopause is often misunderstood.

It’s not just normal life stress. It’s not always a psychiatric issue. And it’s rarely random.

But what’s crazy is the first response is usually an anti-anxiety medication.

Estrogen plays a regulatory role in serotonin signaling, dopamine balance and stress response. When estrogen fluctuates the brain feels it.

At the same time progesterone often declines early in perimenopause. That means less buffering against stress.

If blood sugar is unstable, sleep is broken, or cortisol has been elevated for years, the hormonal transition can amplify those patterns.

This is why anxiety can feel new, sudden or more intense than before. Or harder to logic your way out of.

The answer isn’t pushing through. It’s stabilizing:
➡️blood sugar
➡️sleep-wake patterns
➡️inflammation
➡️nervous system input
➡️hormone signaling

When physiology steadies, the mind will too.

Hello!

There are some new faces around here and lots of new appointment questions so I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself again!

I’m Sara and Winnipeg Nutrition is my business.

I opened Winnipeg Nutrition about 15 years ago. Like many of you I struggled with health issues that standard medical care couldn’t understand. Functional Medicine saved my life.

Our bodies are made to heal and function well. We are so perfectly created. My passion is to help others in the same spot I was in. Sick, stuck and unsure of where to turn.

You can heal. There is always hope.
