Picture this: sunshine on your face. Music in your ears. Endorphins flowing from a heart-pounding workout. All while moving for a great cause.

There are just two more chances to get moving at Assiniboine Park this summer with Embrace Your Reflection:

• Tonight, August 18 — Rooted in Rhythm: Rooted in Rhythm brings together a DJ with soul and a trainer with purpose for an energizing workout designed to get the whole community moving to the same beat.
• Tuesday, August 25 — Movement in the Park: A 90-minute wellness experience featuring a full-body workout, guided reflection and yoga, plus local wellness pop-ups to explore before and after class.

Both classes are open to all fitness levels, cost $25 per class, and support the HSC Eating Disorder Program.

We invite you to join us in congratulating Jon Fenton on completing an absolutely incredible feat—a 12-hour, 26-kilometre swim from Gimli to Grand Beach, all in support of health care!

Six years after his stem cell transplant, Jon took on this incredible challenge to celebrate his milestone and give back to the medical teams who helped him get here. And what started as one very big swim became an even bigger show of support.

Together, you have helped Jon raise money and make a difference for the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, and the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Even though the swim is complete, there’s still time to be part of Jon’s journey. If you’d like to make a last-minute donation in support of Jonny’s Big Swim, you can give today at https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/adaptive-donor-form/?formId=5d5d1a56-f3bf-4e52-817e-bbcf7e58c9f2&envid=p-kpAl1c5caEiUT2kDGAncQw&zone=can

From Jon’s first stroke to the final dollars being raised, thank you for cheering Jon on and helping him turn a personal milestone into something that will make a difference for so many others.

And to Jon—the waves may have been big, but your strength of spirit was bigger. We are so grateful for your generosity, your determination and your commitment to making a difference in health care.

Congratulations, Jon!

Summer doesn’t mean a break from emergencies.

While many of us are taking time to slow down, spend time with family and enjoy the season, health care workers at HSC_Winnipeg are still showing up—early mornings, long shifts, weekends and holidays.

They’re caring for patients, supporting families and doing the work that can’t take a day off.

Every day, they bring skill, compassion and dedication to the moments when Manitobans need them most.

To every health care worker: thank you for being there for Manitobans, all year long.

When Pierre Laurencelle arrived at HSC_Winnipeg after a devastating car crash, his family feared the worst.

His injuries were life-threatening, and his surgeon shared that the outcome could have been very different just a few years earlier—before HSC had access to the advanced spinal surgery technology made possible through donor support.

Today, Pierre is on the road to recovery, thanks to the expertise of his care team and the innovative tools that helped make his surgery possible.

For Pierre and his mom Danielle, donor-funded technology wasn’t just about innovation. It was about giving their family hope, a future, and more moments together.

Through Operation Excellence, donors are helping bring leading-edge technology to HSC—transforming what’s possible for patients across Manitoba.

Because every advancement in care has a story behind it. And every story starts with people who believe better is possible.

“I have a new lease on life because of the brilliant people at HSC and because of the spirit of innovation at the hospital and at the HSC Foundation.”

For Sylvia Molnar, innovation wasn’t just about new technology. It was the difference between having no surgical option for her cancer and having a chance at a future with her family.

HSC_Winnipeg's donor-funded surgical robot gave her care team an option that didn’t exist before. Today, Sylvia is cancer-free and enjoying time with the people she loves.

Her story is a powerful reminder of what can happen when brilliant health care teams have access to the tools, technology and resources they need to push what’s possible.

Innovation HSC helps make those possibilities a reality for patients across Manitoba.

Did you know air ambulances can land directly at HSC_Winnipeg?

Before the Paul Albrechtsen Heliport opened in 2016, critically ill and injured patients had to land at the Winnipeg airport before being transferred by ground ambulance—adding approximately 30 minutes to their journey.

Those minutes make all the difference.

Winnipeg’s sole heliport was named in honour of the late Paul Albrechtsen, whose extraordinary generosity helped strengthen health care in Manitoba. Between 1993 and 2019, he contributed more than $13.4 million to the HSC Foundation, creating a legacy that continues to impact patients every day.

On August 15, Jon Fenton will take on an incredible challenge—swimming approximately 26 kilometres across Lake Winnipeg from Grand Beach to Gimli.

For Jon, this isn't just an endurance swim.

It's a way to celebrate six years since his stem cell transplant for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and to give back to the health care teams who helped him through cancer—not once, but twice.

Jon has set a goal of raising $75,000, with proceeds supporting the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, and the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Thanks to a generous matching gift from Mike and Tina Jones, C.M., O.M., every donation made up until August 15 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to a total of $5,000.

That means your support will go twice as far to help advance cancer care at HSC_Winnipeg—supporting exceptional patient care.
