BIG THANKS

I couldn’t have done this amazing event without the help of so many. My sister convinced me to do this bucket list event and spent time driving me to practice swims, bike rides and feeding me endless carbohydrates before the event. She also organized 20+ group of fans who came out with signs, music & noise makers to cheer me on throughout my 12 hour event. They stayed even when it got dark and was raining. Her partner Rich, helped with my bike, jogged beside me when I was ready to walk & pushed a scooter 5km during my race just to see me on my bike second lap.

Long before I got to Australia, Chris & my kids have made so many sacrifices so that I could train to be ready for this event. Even though they weren’t here in person they tracked me on the app & Chris stayed up all night to FaceTime and send motivation tips to my sister to pass along to me.

I also need to thank all the ironman.cairns volunteers. From registration, to transition volunteers & all aid stations were staffed with smiling locals of all ages. Their kindness & encouragement made this event memorable for me.

Pre-race bag & bike drop. Unique course with two different transition areas. The swim is 25 km north of Cairns. Blue bike bag & bike are racked at the swim.

The second transition is in downtown Cairns. My red run bag is racked there. Now pasta dinner, more water & early bedtime.
