After menopause, declining estrogen levels can change the urinary and vaginal tissues, making women more vulnerable to urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Women should never feel embarrassed talking about urinary symptoms — they are incredibly common and treatable.

Many women are surprised to learn there may be a connection between menopause and brain health. Research suggests estrogen plays an important role in:
• Memory
• Brain energy metabolism
• Cognitive function
• Protecting neural connections

Some studies have shown that the menopausal transition may be associated with changes in brain function and potentially increased Alzheimer’s risk later in life.

This does NOT mean menopause causes Alzheimer’s disease — but it does highlight how important brain health is during midlife.

Brain fog, forgetfulness, and difficulty concentrating are also very common during perimenopause and menopause.

Women deserve education, support, and proactive care — not dismissal.

Did you know hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect lupus symptoms?

Because lupus is an autoimmune condition that disproportionately affects women, shifts in estrogen levels may influence:
• Fatigue
• Joint pain
• Inflammation
• Sleep
• Mood and cognition

For some women, symptoms improve after menopause. For others, the transition can make symptom management more challenging.

The difficulty is that many menopause symptoms — including brain fog, exhaustion, aches, and sleep disruption — can overlap with autoimmune symptoms.

This is why individualized care matters.

Women deserve healthcare providers who look at the full picture, not just one piece of it.
