Mental health matters—today and every day.

On World Mental Health Day, we’re reminding you that small steps count: a walk outside, a quick stretch, or even deep breathing can make a difference.

Movement isn’t just for your body—it’s for your mind, too. Regular activity can help reduce stress, improve mood, and boost overall wellbeing.

You don’t have to do it all—you just have to start.

Feeling stiff through your upper back? Try the Kneeling Thoracic Rotation!

This simple mobility exercise helps:
✨ Improve posture
✨ Release mid-back tension
✨ Boost rotation & movement

Do 6–10 slow reps per side, keeping your hips stable and rotating only through your chest. Exhale as you open up — you’ll feel the difference!

💡 Perfect before workouts or after a long day of sitting.
👉 Save this for your next stretch session!

One thing we care about in Mini Band Shoulder Flexion? Pushing out!
That gentle outward tension keeps your shoulders engaged and stable while you lift overhead. 🙌
Remember:
1️⃣ Band around wrists
2️⃣ Push out (light tension)
3️⃣ Raise arms overhead, control the return
Strong shoulders. Better posture. More mobility. ✅

Sweat today, heal tomorrow.

Infrared saunas aren’t just relaxing—they help with pain, recovery, and flexibility. Consider booking with our Transcona location, your body will thank you!

Is Rest Always Best for Healing? Maybe!

When you first injure a muscle (like a strain), short-term rest helps reduce pain and inflammation. But complete rest for too long can actually slow healing and lead to stiffness or weakness.

✅ The key?
Active recovery—gentle, guided movement and rehab exercises that promote blood flow and rebuild strength without overstressing the injury.

Your physiotherapist can help you find the right balance between rest and activity to speed healing safely.

So, rest when you need it—but don’t stay still for too long!

Whether you’re swinging a bat, shooting a puck, or throwing a ball—thoracic spine mobility is a game-changer.
One of Lorissa’s go-to moves at Elite St. Vital? Thread the Needle. It’s a must for athletes looking to:
- Improve upper back rotation
- Relieve tightness in the shoulders and mid-spine
- Enhance performance in rotational sports (think golf, baseball, hockey, and tennis)
- Reduce injury risk during high-demand movements

Add it to your warm-up or recovery routine—your spine (and your game) will thank you.
Want support integrating sport-specific mobility into your training? Book with one of our physiotherapists today.

Knee Sprains 101 with Elite Transcona’s Lea Woloski!

Knee Sprains happen when ligaments are stretched or torn. They’re usually classified into three grades:

Grade 1: Mild overstretch or tiny tears. You might feel some soreness but can still move okay. Usually heals quickly with rest and gentle exercises.

Grade 2: Partial ligament tear. More pain, some swelling, and weakness. Rehab is important here to get full strength back.

Grade 3: Complete tear or rupture. This is serious — lots of pain, bruising, and loss of function. Surgery and longer rehab might be needed.

If you think you have a knee sprain, getting a proper assessment from a physiotherapist can help you recover safely and faster! Get in touch today!
