Hundreds of people gathered recently at The Forks in Winnipeg to celebrate those who have recovered and to uplift and support people battling addiction.

It was a beautiful day of celebrating recovery and connecting with individuals and other agencies doing great work in the community. The community event featured hundreds of people coming together to celebrate recovery from addiction, raise awareness, and remind others that help is available. Lillian Cook of Sagkeeng First Nation held a sign that read “Recovery is Possible” and shared her story of overcoming 25 years of addiction and being sober for more than four years, crediting the strength provided by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for helping her stay sober.

The Recovery Day event featured live music and performances, food trucks, a kids’ zone, land-based teachings, and more. The event offered many people a chance to hear powerful stories from those who have overcome addiction while challenging the stigma around addiction. The event encouraged people who are struggling to seek support and know that recovery is possible.

Sponsor Highlight!✨🤝

A heartfelt thank you to The City of Winnipeg for supporting Recovery Day 2026.

It's refreshing to see our community come together.

The City of Winnipeg is the municipal government corporation that manages public services, local infrastructure, and civic governance for Manitoba's capital.

Led by a mayor and 15 ward councillors, the administration is overseen by a Chief Administrative Officer who directs specialized municipal departments.
The organization maintains critical operations including the Winnipeg Police Service, Fire Paramedic Service, transit networks, and water systems.

It also manages public parks, community grants, and libraries, providing resident access through its central 311 service.

Thank you, Winnipeg, for your continued support of Recovery Day!
