When star myths come alive…and heads fall.
Uranus currently at 27° Ta**us hovers around the fixed star Algol the most infamous star in the sky.
In Greek mythology, Algol represents the severed head of Medusa, held aloft by Perseus. The name derives from the Arabic ra’s al-ghūl, meaning “the demon’s head.” For centuries, Algol has carried associations with extremes, downfall, exposure, violent endings, and the unleashing of what has been repressed. It is often associated with individuals who deal with intense public scrutiny or, conversely, have a "hidden" power.
Over the past few weeks Uranus, the awakener, the disrupter, the bringer of shocks and revelations stationed on this star.
Uranus on Algol can manifest as sudden downfall, shocking disclosures, or collective awakenings around abuse of power particularly involving women and the misuse of authority.
In recent weeks, much long-hidden material has surfaced. The release of the Epstein files has rippled through global consciousness, implicating powerful figures and exposing abuses long shrouded in secrecy. At the same time, Neptune crossing the World Point dissolved veils; its vapours revealing what glamour and influence once concealed.
We also saw renewed scrutiny around Prince Andrew, who has his natal Moon opposite Algol, and conversations resurfacing around Donald Trump, whose Midheaven aligns with this star — now electrified by Uranus.
Medusa represents demonised feminine power , the rage of the violated, the silenced voice, the gaze that turns oppression to stone. When activated, Algol can symbolise the severing of corruption at its root.
In the past few days, as Mars activated the recent solar eclipse degree at 28° Aquarius and squared Uranus on Algol, we witnessed a dramatic geopolitical escalation with the killing of Ali Khamenei by U.S. and Israeli forces, an event sending shockwaves across the region and threatening further rupture, unleashing tensions and igniting retaliation.
Astrologically, Mars square Uranus is a volatile signature , sudden strikes, explosive developments, destabilisation of leadership. When Algol is involved, themes of decapitation, literal or symbolic, become archetypally amplified.
It is also notable that Benjamin Netanyahu and the chart of Israel (14 May 1948) carry Mars–Algol tensions in their natal configurations, by square. USA Independence chart 1776, has radix Moon square Algol and now Uranus.
We are living through mythic symbolism playing out on the world stage.
The deeper question is not only about rupture but about what consciousness emerges after the severing.
