Hope Valley Roots and Wings: Sprouts (Grades 3-5) ๐ŸŒฟ

A nature-based, experiential, animal-assisted psychotherapy group for children with anxiety. Sprouts is a small-group program helping kids in grades 3-5 (2026/2027 school year) manage big emotions, build confidence, and thrive.

It blends nature-based and experiential therapy, animal-assisted psychotherapy, play therapy, and creative arts. Most of each session is outdoors, with activities that build emotional awareness, self-regulation, confidence, and connection, giving kids coping strategies for everyday life.

Informed by Dr. Mary Alvord's research on child resilience (social competence, self-regulation, problem-solving, optimism, adaptive coping). Sessions gently address worry, avoidance, perfectionism, self-doubt, and stress.

You are not meant to do this alone. ๐Ÿ’š

The early days of motherhood bring so much love, and often a lot that goes unspoken: the worry, the exhaustion, the questions about whether you are getting it right. The Mother Grove: Nurturing New Beginnings is a gentle space to set that weight down for a little while.

Over four Friday mornings in nature, a small group of new mothers come together with Registered Psychotherapist Jenny Schroeder to learn, reflect, and connect. You will pick up evidence-based strategies for postpartum wellbeing, nurture your bond with your baby, and find real community with others who understand.

Fridays, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
August 14, 21, 28, and September 4

What does therapy at Hope Valley actually look like?

It might look like a traditional session in our indoor studio. It might look like a walk along a forest trail, a conversation beside the campfire, or quiet time spent brushing one of the horses while working through something heavy.

Jenny Schroeder, Registered Psychotherapist, supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship and parenting challenges, and child and adolescent concerns. Every treatment plan is tailored, drawing from a wide range of evidence-based modalities and the restorative setting of the farm itself.

Therapy here is flexible too. Choose in-person sessions indoors or outdoors, virtual appointments, or telephone sessions, whatever feels most comfortable. Receipts are provided for insurance reimbursement where coverage applies.

Ready to take the first step? Book online through our website or reach out to [email protected].

Meet the heart behind Hope Valley Psychotherapy.

Jenny Schroeder is a Registered Psychotherapist who believes healing happens best when people are met exactly where they are. Sometimes that is in a cozy indoor studio. Sometimes it is on a quiet nature trail, beside a campfire, or in the company of a gentle horse.

Hope Valley Psychotherapy is a nature-based, experiential practice located on a working farm in East Zorra-Tavistock, Ontario. Jenny works with children, teens, adults, couples, and families, drawing from evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems, emotion-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care.

Her philosophy is simple: therapy should feel safe, empowering, and human. Clients lead their own journey. Jenny walks alongside them.

Sessions are available in person, virtually, or by phone. To learn more or book a session, visit www.hopevalleypsychotherapy.ca or email [email protected].

The Equine Pathways Series was quickly full for June! Stay tuned for July dates.

Thank you to every family who reached out and registered. We are so excited to welcome this small group of children in Grades 4 to 6 to the farm, where four weeks of equine-assisted social-emotional learning await.

Because we keep our groups intentionally small, just 6 participants supported by 4 staff and volunteers, spaces fill quickly. If you missed this round, a summer cohort is in the works and we would love to have your child join us.

To be the first to hear about upcoming program dates, send us a message or email [email protected] and ask to join the interest list.

Now Accepting Registrations: Equine Pathways Series, Social-Emotional Learning

Hope Valley Psychotherapy, in partnership with Oxford Sporthorses, is pleased to announce a four-week equine-assisted group therapy program for children in Grades 4 to 6.

Grounded in current research on social-emotional development, this program supports children in cultivating three core competencies: self-awareness, emotional regulation, and positive peer connection. Through structured interactions with horses, creative expression, and play-based learning, participants engage in experiential work that fosters confidence, resilience, and meaningful interpersonal skills in a developmentally appropriate setting.

Equine-assisted therapy offers a uniquely embodied learning environment. Horses respond to non-verbal cues in real time, providing immediate, honest feedback that helps children build awareness of their internal states, practice co-regulation, and develop relational skills that transfer into peer, family, and school contexts.
