August 1-7 is recognized as World Breastfeeding Week, and we're pleased to share that we have partnered with to offer breastfeeding classes at Woodstock Hospital. Classes are being offered in Vision Hall (Lower Level) on the following dates:

• September 23rd, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
• October 3rd, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
• October 28th, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
• November 7th, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
• November 18th, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
• December 12th, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
• December 16th, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Parking is $4.00. Space is limited. Call Patient Bookings at 519-537-2381 to secure a spot for you and a support person.

The wait is over! The newly renovated Tim Hortons in Woodstock Hospital’s cafeteria reopened today.

The refreshed location features the full Tim Hortons menu, the ability to use the Tim Hortons app for ordering, rewards, and eligible offers, along with two new touch-screen kiosks for added convenience.

Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., weekends and statutory holidays, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

As Tim Hortons reopens, the Grill will temporarily close for renovations, with work expected to be completed in September 2026.

Special shoutout to the Aramark team for their hard work and dedication throughout this renovation project!

Keith says his drinking reached a turning point during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

“I started drinking every day, and before I knew it, everything started spiraling,” he shared. “You don’t realize it’s happening. Your addiction just builds and builds and builds.”

Eventually, Keith says alcohol was affecting every area of his life, including his health, finances, employment, and relationships. He was frequently in and out of the hospital with liver and pancreatic issues and eventually left his job.

Keith first heard about the Wellness Centre through a CMHA counsellor. The Wellness Centre at 369 Huron Street in Woodstock is one component of the Oxford County HART Hub. It has four withdrawal management beds and six supportive treatment beds where clients participate in a 90-day bedded supportive treatment (BST) program. This temporary location is in place while a permanent location at 16 Graham Street in Woodstock is under construction.

"Once I got here, I immediately felt safe. I felt safe from the habit and safe from the problems I had.”

What stood out most to Keith was the friendly and caring staff. “They truly cared and wanted to listen,” he said. “I was also prescribed medication that helped me think more clearly and feel more level-headed. When you’re battling addiction, your mind feels like a blender, and you can’t think straight.”

Throughout the program, Keith says he developed coping and life skills that he now uses every day, including how to communicate more effectively with others. “I learned how to express myself better and how to really listen to people and understand that they could be going through things, too.”

If you or someone you know is experiencing mental health challenges, addiction, or homelessness, support is available locally. Adults 18+ can call 519-537-2382 at any time to take the next step. A member of the HART Hub team will listen and help guide individuals to the right supports.

Great healthcare doesn't happen by chance. It happens when you combine compassionate professionals with care decisions that are guided by evidence-based best practices.

That's why Woodstock Hospital has pursued and received approval from the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) to begin its Best Practice Spotlight Organization® (BPSO) journey.

“To become designated as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization, we have to implement three Best Practice Guidelines over a three-year period,” explained Cindy Smart, Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer.

As part of RNAO's BPSO program, two Best Practice Guidelines are required: Transitions in Care and Person and Family-Centred Care. Woodstock Hospital selected Engaging Clients Who Use Substances as its third guideline to reflect the evolving needs of our patients and community.

"One of the metrics we track as a hospital is readmissions, and we see patients returning to the hospital due to complex health conditions caused by substance use," explained Cindy. "By improving how we engage and support these individuals, we have an opportunity to improve health outcomes, strengthen the patient experience, and help connect patients with the care and resources they need. We believe this work will benefit not only our patients and families, but also our staff and the broader community."

You know the saying, "They'd give you the shirt off their back"? Well, Emergency Department Charge Nurse Janet Belore is the kind of person who would give a mother her own child's car seat to make sure they got home safely after being discharged. That act of kindness was just one of many heartfelt stories shared in a nomination recognizing Janet for her exceptional care of children and families in the Emergency Department.

“Emergency care has evolved a lot over my career,” explained Janet. “We are seeing higher acuity visits, partly because the community is growing, the population is aging, and there is still a lack of primary care solutions. The need for us to work together as a team is more important than ever.”

On April 15, 2026, Janet received the Susan J. Ready Award of Excellence in Paediatric Emergency Medicine during an annual conference hosted by Children’s Hospital and Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The award recognizes outstanding patient care, mentorship, leadership, and collaboration in paediatric emergency medicine.
