Lets talk about ☆PROTEIN☆ for a minute!
Our diets should consist of three macronutrients. That is, protein, fat, and carbs. (Micronutrients are your vitamins and minerals --hence *micro*)
They are all important and affect the body in different ways. But, for now lets focus on protein! It:
KEEPS YOU FULL...Protein, is the most filling macronutrient. (Keeps you full with less food.) One reason for this is a hormone called *ghrelin*... the hunger hormone. Protein actually reduces levels of this hormone, controlling appetite.
If you need to lose some belly fat, swap out some carbs for some protein. I use My Fitness Pal and it allows you to edit your macro goals.
MUSCLE MASS... your muscles are made of protein. Its really important you keep your protein HIGH if you want to grow or maintain muscle. Keeping protein up will prevent muscle loss during weightloss.
BOOSTING METABOLISM...eating a high protein diet increases metabolism and burns more calories. Also, with more emphasis on protein intake, we typically will consume less calories. BUT ....please consume ENOUGH calories.
Consuming too little is going to wreak havoc on your metabolism and only going to do more harm than good and hold oj to fat longer than it needs to.
Now, all that being said... I'm ready to abandon my kids Halloween bags 😆🤣
