We’ve spent a lot of this gardening season talking about how to keep doing something you love—and introducing you to some of the healthcare professionals who might be part of your “gardening team.”

Most recently, we introduced you to our chiropractic team.

And that brings us to a question we hear a lot:

“If I start chiropractic care, will I have to go forever?”

No. You don’t have to.

But we think there might be a more important question:

What do you want to be able to keep doing for as long as possible?

Maybe it’s gardening.

Maybe it’s travelling, working, running, playing with your kids, caring for your family, or someday getting down on the floor with your grandchildren—and getting back up again.

Because most of us don’t invest in our health because we want more healthcare.

We invest in our health because we want more life.

And we don’t believe chiropractic care is the answer to everything.

Sometimes the right support is chiropractic care. Sometimes it’s massage therapy or acupuncture. Sometimes it’s physiotherapy, occupational therapy, exercise, better sleep, medical care—or another member of your healthcare team entirely.

The goal isn’t dependency on care.

The goal is maintaining the capacity and independence to keep showing up for the life that matters to you.

That’s what we mean when we say Live Well Long.

We explored this idea more deeply in our newest blog:

Do You Need Chiropractic Care Forever? Rethinking Maintenance, Independence, and Long-Term Health

Read the full blog here → https://www.livwellchiro.com/post/do-you-need-chiropractic-care-forever-rethinking-maintenance-independence-and-long-term-health

And we’d love to know:

What’s something you hope you’ll still be able to do 20, 30, or 40 years from now?

Do you need chiropractic care forever? This article explores a different way to think about maintenance, care, independence, and long-term health- and why ongoing care may support the life you want.

Backpacks are packed, school is starting… but is your child’s backpack actually fitting them well? 🎒

A backpack that’s too heavy, sitting too low, or poorly adjusted can add unnecessary strain—especially when kids are carrying it to and from school every day.

Dr. Megan put together a great Back-to-School Backpack Check with a few simple things parents can look for:

🎒 Use both shoulder straps
🎒 Adjust the straps so the backpack sits snugly against the body
🎒 Keep heavier items packed closest to the back
🎒 Look for a backpack that fits your child’s body—not one they still need to “grow into”
🎒 Pay attention if your child is regularly complaining that their backpack feels heavy or uncomfortable

These aren’t about creating a “perfect” posture. They’re simple ways to make carrying a backpack a little easier on a growing body.

👉 Check out the full carousel from Dr. Megan for more tips on backpack fit, positioning, and what to look for when choosing a backpack:

And if you have a school-aged kiddo at home, save this one for your next backpack adjustment—or bring their backpack along to their next visit and we can help you take a look. 🎒

Your garden has spent all summer growing your food… but what can that harvest do for you? 🌱

Throughout our gardening series, we’ve talked a lot about supporting your body through the physical demands of gardening. Now, we’re taking the conversation from the garden to the table.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, late summer is associated with digestion, nourishment, and seasonal transition—and many of the vegetables being harvested right now fit naturally into that conversation.

In our newest blog, Min Young Kim, our Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner & Acupuncturist at LivWell Chiropractic & Health, shares a different perspective on your late-summer harvest and explores how foods like zucchini, squash, carrots, beets, onions, and garlic are viewed through a TCM lens.

🌾 What can your garden harvest teach you about digestion?

And tell us below—what vegetable is taking over your garden right now? 🥒

🌱 Meet Your Gardening Team

When most people think about gardening discomfort, they think it’s just part of getting older or something they have to push through.

But gardening places real demands on the body—from bending and lifting to kneeling, carrying, and spending long periods in the same position.

That’s where your gardening team comes in.

At Wynyard Chiropractic Clinic, our chiropractors play a unique role in helping people move more comfortably and continue enjoying the activities they love.

Because the goal isn’t to stop gardening.

It’s to keep gardening for years to come.

🌱 Which gardening task is toughest on your body?

Your omega-3 says 1,000 mg of fish oil—but what does that actually mean?

One of the easiest things to miss when comparing omega-3 supplements is the number that actually matters.

Instead of looking only at the total amount of fish oil, turn the bottle around and find the EPA + DHA.

For example, the Omega Pure we carry contains 1,000 mg of fish oil per softgel, including:

→ 400 mg EPA
→ 200 mg DHA
→ 600 mg EPA + DHA combined

And that’s only part of the quality conversation.

The form of the fish oil matters. Purity and testing matter. Freshness matters. And the amount that’s appropriate for you depends on why you’re taking it in the first place.

This is why we’ve been sharing more about the products we carry at LivWell—not because we think everyone needs more supplements, but because if you’re already investing in your health, we want to help you understand what you’re taking and how to choose it well.

Have an omega-3 at home? Go grab it and turn the bottle around. Can you find the EPA + DHA?

If you’re unsure what you’re looking at, bring your bottle with you to your next visit. We’re happy to help you read the label.

So… what actually happens when you bring your baby to a chiropractor? 👶

If you’ve never experienced pediatric chiropractic care before, it’s completely reasonable to have questions about what an appointment actually looks like.

And one of the most important things to know is this:

Pediatric chiropractic care is not adult chiropractic care scaled down.

Babies have different developmental needs, and their care should reflect that.

So what does an appointment actually involve?

First, we talk.

Before any hands-on assessment, we want to understand what brought you in. We may ask about pregnancy, birth, feeding, movement, sleep, settling, and anything else you’ve noticed about your baby.

Then, we observe.

Babies communicate a lot through movement. We may watch how your baby turns their head, moves their arms and legs, interacts with you, and responds to different positions.

Then, we assess gently.

The assessment is adapted to your baby’s age, size, development, and individual presentation. We may look at movement, symmetry, tone, reflexes, and comfort.

And yes—it’s very gentle.

Pediatric techniques are specifically adapted for infants and children and may involve very gentle contact, sustained pressure, positioning, or other age-appropriate approaches.

But there’s another part of pediatric care that matters just as much:

You should understand what’s happening.

You should feel comfortable asking questions, understand why something is being recommended, and feel empowered to make decisions for your family.

And sometimes, the best recommendation isn’t chiropractic care.

Pediatric care works best when we’re part of a team. If another healthcare professional is better suited to help, we want to recognize that and help connect you with the right resource.

Because your baby isn’t a problem to solve.

They’re a developing human being—and you know them better than anyone.

Our job is to listen, assess, support, educate, and help you navigate the next step. 🤍

If you’ve ever wondered what a pediatric chiropractic appointment actually looks like, we hope this gives you a better idea.

Save this post for later or share it with a parent who might be curious about pediatric chiropractic care.

Recovering from an injury doesn’t necessarily mean you have to stop doing the things you love.

Sometimes, you just need to change how you do them. 🐾

Take playing fetch with your dog.

If bending down repeatedly to pick up the ball is aggravating your back, shoulders, or another area you’re recovering from, you don’t necessarily have to give up the game.

A simple tool like a Chuckit! launcher can change the way you play—allowing you to throw farther while reducing some of the repetitive bending involved in retrieving the ball.

It’s one small example of a bigger idea:

Adapt the activity instead of automatically eliminating it.

Our newest blog explores practical ways to care for and enjoy time with your dog while supporting your body during injury recovery—including walking, leash management, picking up after your dog, playing fetch, and mental enrichment.
