Do the people living on this planet need to awaken? There are many that believe that we do. Many believe that there’s so much more waiting within us and on the sidelines that is asking for our attention.
When our personal senses are awakened, it can set a series of experiences in motion that there is no coming back from. Some refer to this awakening as an expansion of consciousness.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately. In fact, I just named the 2 day, 2026 Inner Oaks ladies retreat Conscious Creation. I believe it’s about truly taking steps through awareness. It’s not just about existing but living fully. And yes, it takes commitment and consistency. It’s work, taking care of your body, taking care of your mind and your spirit. Your soul.
Those that have consciously been doing the work for some time now are going to have an easier time of manifesting the life that has been waiting for them. It’s there for all of us. We just have to take the first step and get quiet.
Stepping into a higher consciousness is like coming back into your body and experiencing life differently than the path we were on. It connects us to unseen realms, often beyond our usual perception.
It can be almost like walking through a house you’ve lived in your entire life and suddenly discovering rooms you didn’t know existed. The rooms weren’t created when you awakened. They were always there. You simply became able to see the doors. This powerful energy has always been there.
As we become more aware, we may begin to see things we weren’t ready to see before. Old patterns, beliefs and stories can come to the surface. Sometimes we have to face parts of ourselves we’ve avoided, let go of what no longer serves us and move through experiences that challenge everything we thought we knew.
It isn’t always comfortable, but I believe there is something within us guiding us forward.
As our senses become awakened, we begin to experience the interconnectedness of life. We become more of the observer, able to watch our thoughts, emotions and the stories that we tell ourselves without being completely consumed by them, often shifting into a more positive outlook on life. We begin to let things go, and in turn, we make room for a higher conscious living to come in.
We start to tune into the clues that our bodies are giving us, as the body knows. The soul knows. It might come in as tightening or resistance, a warmth, a lightness or sense of ease, perhaps a heaviness. The body becomes like a compass should we learn to work with its sensations. I’ve learned that if we look out for our body, it will look out for us.
As we continue on the path……
We may notice colours, light, shadows, textures and tiny details that we previously overlooked. Nature can suddenly feel almost extraordinarily beautiful. We may find ourselves stopping to look at leaves, trees, the sky, someone’s face, a sunset or sunrise, or the way sunlight moves across a room. We may be led to tears because it’s that beautiful.
We may begin noticing sounds beneath the obvious sounds: birds in the distance, wind through trees, rippling water, someone’s breathing, the silence. Hearing becomes much more subtle. And sometimes this comes with a greater sensitivity to the energy behind someone’s behaviour and words. We begin to sense what they’re actually communicating before it’s communicated verbally.
Scents can suddenly evoke very strong memories, emotions or feelings of familiarity. It can bring an almost immediate emotional response.
Food can become much more sensory. We may notice sweetness, bitterness, heat and texture in a way we didn’t before. We’ll notice how beautiful fresh produce, berries, fruit and herbs are. We can also become more aware of what our body genuinely wants rather than eating purely from habit or conditioning.
We may become much more aware of our skin while in different temperatures, wind, another person’s touch, the earth beneath our feet, the sensation of our clothing, or our own hands on our body.
And there can be a growing awareness of energy through touch, feeling that a person, place or object has a particular quality to it.
Although over the years I experienced some of these things, what absolutely blew me away when I had my awakening back in 2018 was that I began to experience the following on a deeper, more meaningful level:
Sensing something before you can explain why
Knowing when something feels right or wrong
Becoming highly aware of the energy of people and places
Hearing what someone was going to say before they said it
Recognizing synchronicities
Experiencing stronger dreams
Sensing someone’s emotional state without them saying anything
Feeling deeply connected to nature
Experiencing time differently
Becoming much more aware of my own body’s signals
Noticing that my inner and outer worlds seem to mirror one another
I stopped experiencing life through my mind and stepped into a powerful vortex of sorts that continues to strengthen the quieter I become.
And perhaps the biggest shift for me was when I began to notice how much my heart was opening.
We begin to have more love for ourselves and for others. We become gentler with ourselves and start to see our own experiences, and other people, with more compassion.
Forgiveness starts to come more naturally, forgiving ourselves for the things we’ve done and releasing some of the hurt we’ve carried from others.
We become less judgmental and more understanding. We start to recognize that everyone is on their own journey and doing the best they can from where they are.
We feel more love. We see things differently, but we also feel life differently.
Over the years I’ve had to be patient. I now recognize that an awakening isn’t a destination. There are many layers, and I’m to enjoy the journey as it goes along if I’m going to stay in the flow of this life force energy.
I don’t think stepping into a higher consciousness means that you ever arrive. It’s more about more and more layers being revealed, which leads to asking more questions.
Who is behind all of this? What is in place for us that so many are unaware of? There’s something inside each of us that will call us to step up at some point in our life, and it may come in through difficult experiences that will shift the trajectory of our entire life.
I’ve learned to trust that we are so loved by our creator and that everything works out as it should. I continue to work toward surrendering and trusting in this higher power.
And this is really where my 31 Day Soul Boost Journal comes in.
Launching in October, it’s an accompaniment to my book, Inheritance Revealed. I created it to help us consistently show up for ourselves, to get quiet, become more aware and begin to notice what is happening within and around us.
Because I believe that when we commit to ourselves through a daily practice, something begins to shift. We step into a higher state of awareness, leading to an expanding consciousness where everything is possible.
