1. Stress Management / Nervous System Regulation.
Chronic stress dysregulates cortisol, impairs immunity, increases inflammation, disrupts sleep, and makes it harder for the body to be in healing mode.

This is why stress/safety often comes first: if the nervous system is dysregulated, other interventions don’t “stick” as well.

2. Social Connection
Oxytocin and safe connection literally calm the nervous system, reducing cortisol and inflammation.

Social connection is both a buffer against stress and a direct healer.

3. Diet / Nutrition
Nutrition builds the "raw materials," but without stress/safety, digestion and absorption are impaired.

4. Exercise / Movement
Moving your body regularly helps you live longer, keeps your heart and metabolism healthy, lifts mood, eases anxiety, and makes your brain more flexible and resilient

But in states of severe stress or poor nutrition, exercise can backfire (raising cortisol) - especially in females.

This is why exercise usually comes after nutrition and regulation — it amplifies healing once the basics are in place.

✨️Perimenopause Empowerment🤟

Can be experienced 5-10 years before the last period and isnt diagnosed from bloodwork but rather from a range of symptoms. A woman still experiences regular cycles but may have a different flow (heavier, longer or shorter), disrupted sleep, pre-menstrual night sweats or mood changes, difficulty concentrating, headaches, weight changes or cramps.

Menopause on the other hand is diagnosed using bloodwork (FSH)

Contrary to whats known, perimenopause is actually due to a dip in PROGESTERONE. yes, progesterone dips before estrogen.

This is why women in their late 30's and 40s experience less resilience to stres. Progesterone converts to allopregnanolone (ALLO) that interacts with our GABA receptors and produces a CALMING effect and Promotes Sleep.

During this transition things to consider under the care of your healthcare provider are:

💛Magnesium, taurine, vitamin B6 can be used to raise Gaba.
💛Melatonin to support sleep
💛Passionflower/ashwagandha- for both calmness and sleep
💛Bio-identical progesterone (different than progestin)

What does the LIVER do?

After your food is absorbed in your gut and into the blood, its sent to your liver, before its sent to the rest of your body. Anything you eat or drink, such as food, medicine, supplements, toxins or alcohol all must go through the liver first.

🌷It monitors the blood for any toxins & converts it to a less toxic substance and sends it to the kidneys or intestines to be removed from the body as urine or stool. This process is called DE- TOXification

🌷The liver also makes BILE and sends it to the intestines. Bile contains some of the toxins the liver wants to get rid of as mentioned earlier. It also contains acids to help breakdown fat and to kill any bad bacteria that may have been consumed along with food.

🌷Another major job of the liver is to convert carbs from your food into readily available sugar for your body to use. Any excess carbs are then converted into fat and are then transported from the Liver to Fat storage sites.

This is why a Low Carb diet is suggested for those with Fatty Liver Disease.

It is unclear in the research as to why the liver becomes fatty. And its postulated that either the liver loses its ability to convert excess carbs into fat and transport it OUT of the liver, or it absorbs excess fat from other the body. Fatty liver diease is often seen in overweight individuals.

Have you seen someone eat all the carbs they want and not gain weight or become diabetic?

Or have you been eating your carbs in the right quantity and still cant get your Blood sugar levels down or lose weight?

Theres another obstacle you might want to consider- zoning in on your stress.

Stress Desensitizes the INSULIN receptor GLUT4. Lets break that down:

When you eat a meal, your body extracts the carbs/sugar and moves it into your blood. Thats your uber delivering your food to your door.

A healthy regulation of carbs is when the sugar can move from blood into the body cells that need the sugar, such as your muscles. INSULIN made by the body allows this to occur. Its the key you have to opening that door. Aka you should be able to unlock your door and pick up the food delivery and consume it.

Stress jams the door lock! It prevents you from being able to open that door. The food is still there, you have the key, but you cant get to it!

So now you're left feeling hungry, and you'll attempt to feed that hunger by eating more, but the food simply isnt getting in as well as it should.

Hope you find this post educational and begin to discuss ways of regulating stress with your HCP.

Another KEY factor to Autoimmune health is regulating HORMONES.

A staggering amount of research has showen the Hormone Estrogen to be Immune STIMULATING.

Whereas the hormone, Progesterone can be Immune Suppressive.

Common autoimmune diseases in women:

The Stress-Hormone connection

When stressed our body produces the hormone Cortisol, which in turn exerts further effects on our body.

Our body’s top priority is to deal with the stressor and to help you get through it.

Cortisol when past a certain threshold, signals at the brain level to put other systems as LOW PRIORITY

This means that other systems are put on hold, and resources are re-routed away from digesting food, producing babies or regulating a period, optimal hair health or regulate the way you should burn off fat.

How many of you have a way of checking in with how Stressed/Overwhelmed you are?

And how many of you have a way of REGULATING YOUR STRESS?

Truth or Myth? Hair health is a reflection of internal health?

Truth: Hair health reflects gut health, hormonal and mental health

Your hair is made up of Protein (keratin).

When food is digested it needs to cross over into blood through the Intestinal wall. This wall when too leaky or inflammed can impede the cross over of PROTEIN into your system. Other minerals important for hair health such as Iron, zinc, etc may also have a hard time making it into your blood.

This is why Hair loss or Hair thinning is commonly seen in folks with IBS, IBD- Crohns/Colitis. PMID: 23624889

High amounts of circulating Estrogen and testosterone can cause hair loss. So does High amounts of Cortisol (stress hormone)

Hormonal balance 9/10 is a gut issue.

The GUT-HORMONE connection:
Our gut has receptors for hormones and are in Constant communication with each other. Our gut has a special bacteria family called the “ESTROBOLOME” that Influence Our Hormones.

They are important to balance through diet & supplements if you are trying to lose weight, regulate your me**es, bloating, digestion, etc.

An overgrowth of the Estrobolome can lead to = weight gain, bloating, PMS, Fibroids, Cramps, Endometriosis, PCOS
