Why does cannabis make people look and feel like they have severe ADHD?
It comes down to prefrontal cortex suppression.
When THC floods the brain, it temporarily shuts down your executive control center. The short-term result is relaxation. The long-term result is:
1. Working memory failure (forgetting what you were just doing).
2. Paralysis in task initiation (knowing what to do, but unable to start).
3. A dopamine drop when sober, making normal tasks feel twice as boring.
If you already have ADHD, THC accelerates the exact symptoms you’re trying to escape. If you don’t have ADHD, chronic THC use can make you look like you do.
Have you noticed your focus getting worse after using cannabis?

Generic wellness quotes sound nice on paper. But when you are dealing with burnout, systemic stress, or a dysregulated nervous system, „being kind to yourself“ feels completely useless.
As a psychiatrist, I prefer actionable clinical strategy:
1. Relational peace comes from removing toxic dynamics, not just hunting for „vibrant energy.“
2. Emotional regulation comes from changing your baseline environment, not just waiting for the storm to pass.
3. Self-kindness is often uncomfortable, disciplined action—not passive avoidance.

Happy World Mental Health Day. Let’s talk about the uncomfortable truth nobody else will post today: We have pathologized the normal human condition.
Somewhere along the line, pop psychology convinced us that every uncomfortable emotion, character flaw, or difficult season needs a clinical label.
Grief became „depression.“
Normal stress became „trauma.“
Distractibility became „ADHD.“
Preference for quiet became „avoidant attachment.“
As a psychiatrist, I see the danger in this shift. When you turn every feeling into a medical pathology, you strip away human resilience. You stop learning how to sit with discomfort, adapt to stress, or take responsibility for your flaws—because you’ve convinced yourself you’re just „wired broken.“
Why can’t we accept that being human is messy? That suffering, sadness, and anxiety are sometimes just appropriate, normal reactions to living in a complex world?
You don’t need a medical diagnosis to validate your pain. And you don’t need to be pathologized to start healing.
Has modern culture gone too far in turning every human trait into a mental illness?

Most people only see your achievements, your composure, and the calm face you show to the world.
They don’t see the silent panic attacks in your car before stepping into a room, the sheer willpower it takes to function with a dysregulated nervous system, or the quiet battles you fight in your head while making small talk.
As a psychiatrist, I see so many high-achievers discount their own strength simply because their battles were invisible. You spent years carrying internal storms while keeping everything else afloat.
Surviving the things nobody saw wasn’t weakness—it was resilience in its quietest, most profound form.
Give your nervous system credit for every silent storm it navigated to get you to today.
If you spent years surviving in silence, drop a 🤍 below so you know you aren’t alone.

Pain is an terrible place to stay, but it is one of the most powerful teachers you will ever have.
In psychiatry, I see people grieve not just the end of a relationship, a job, or a lifestyle—but the loss of the illusion they were holding onto.
When something „breaks“ you, it usually shatters the false narrative you were using to protect yourself:
• The belief that people-pleasing would guarantee safety.
• The hope that staying silent would keep the peace.
• The idea that ignoring your boundaries would make someone love you more.
The heartbreak hurts, but the clarity that comes after is a gift.
Once your eyes are open to the truth, you can never go back to settling for what broke you in the first place.
It might feel like a loss right now. But in the long run? It’s a win.
What’s an uncomfortable truth that ended up saving you?

Most people think therapy is just someone giving advice or listening to you vent.
In reality, a session is a deeply active, non-stop clinical puzzle.
While you are speaking, my brain is constantly running multiple tracks at once:
• Mapping the invisible connections between your thoughts, physical feelings, and behaviors.
• Listening for the exact micro-shifts in tone or body language when specific topics come up.
• Filtering out assumptions to look at the broader context of your life story.
• Evaluating what tools have worked for you before—and what hasn’t.
We aren’t here to judge you or tell you how to live your life.
Our job is to help you see the subconscious patterns you’ve been swimming in so you can finally choose to step out of them.
If you’ve ever wondered what’s actually happening on the other side of the couch, now you know.
Have you ever noticed your own patterns showing up in session?
