Reza & I met almost 7 years ago. At a club downtown Toronto to be exact. He was wearing a white t-shirt. I spotted mala beads peeping out of the collar and the rest of the necklace was hidden under his shirt.
I knew we were going to be friends right away.
That night the music was blaring and we somehow kept a conversation going on mindfulness and entrepreneurship.
Through the years we’d meet up for a coffee to discuss what was happening in biz, the new relationships we were in and, of course, new insights we’d discovered on our mindfulness journeys.
It was about 2 years ago we met up for a catch up coffee and I realized something was different. His energy changed. He was grounded and more present than usual.
I left that hang out with excited butterflies-in-my-belly sensations. I’ll skip all the nitty-gritty details to get to the point of this post quicker, but we started dating 5 months later.
I dreamed of dating someone who would meditate with me and was truly doing the *work*. Little did I know what a mindful, healthy relationship would require. I had (and still have) a lot of catching up to do 😂.
The beginning of our relationship wasn’t rainbows and the butterflies stayed only in my belly.
The last year and a half has required a lot of healing, breaking of patterns, trust, communication and pride getting out of the way.
Reza has held so much space, demonstrated his capacity for patience😉, shown me compassion when I can’t find it for myself, continues to support me to get out of my own way, reminds me to approach things with curiosity, and so much more.
Today marks a very special day.
After 6 years and 3500+ hours of practice, Reza received his junior teacher certification from .
I’m so proud of all the work you’ve put in to genuinely earn this milestone and your commitment to spreading these teachings to others. You’ve already taught me and the people in your life so much by being authentically YOU. With or without the official title, you’re an incredible teacher.
While both our lives have drastically changed since that first encounter in the club, I knew that moment how special of a soul you were.
I love doing life with you 💛
