The European Veterinary Society for Osteopathy (EVSO) is a European Association of Veterinary Surgeons practising Osteopathy. EVSO accreditation

EVSO was set up by veterinary surgeons willing to guarantee pet owners certified competency in veterinary osteopathy. The criteria used by EVSO to evaluate competency in veterinary osteopathy are based on the WHO (World Health Organisation) guidelines fo

r human osteopathy. The EVSO accreditation guarantees quality training in veterinary osteopathy. EVSO wishes to federate CPD (Continuing Professional Development) organisations at a European level in order to offer veterinary surgeons pursuing CPDs in osteopathy a recognised accreditation at a national and European level. Veterinary surgeons who have completed an EVSO accredited CPD or satisfied the competency criteria detailed in the EVSO referential can obtain either a Certificate (1st level) or a Diploma (2ndlevel). Clear information

The EVSO website allows access to clear and precise information. Veterinary surgeons wishing to refer an animal needing osteopathic treatment to another veterinary surgeon or a pet owner wishing to make an appointment with a veterinary surgeon whose training has been validated by EVSO have access to a list of EVSO accredited veterinary surgeons. A European Dimension

EVSO is looking ahead and wishes to federate the skills of practicing veterinary surgeons and veterinary surgeons working in universities in order to develop interdisciplinary research programs. One of EVSO’s ambitions is also to promote the teaching of osteopathy in European veterinary schools and universities.

Don’t miss our next event with Dr. Jenny Hagen- Veterinarian& Farrier 👩🏻‍⚕️🧲.

Our Next Congress focuses on two major aspects, connecting the latest scientific insights to everyday work with equine patients.
On the first day, the focus is on the motion physiology of horses. The neuroanatomical mechanisms of motor learning and the development of motor memory will be discussed in relation to individual motion patterns and training. Additionally, the correlation between motion quality and the function of the neck, back, and core stability of the trunk and pelvis will be explained. The aim is to provide a basis for the functional assessment of horses with poor performance or a lack of motion quality. This topic will be discussed further during the practical session through the evaluation of several horses. Finally, the effect of trimming and shoeing on performance and motion quality will be explained to facilitate professional communication and interdisciplinary collaboration with farriers.

On the second day, the seminar will focus on the function of structures related to the distal limb and the functional rehabilitation of orthopaedic patients. The main focus will be on the causes and mechanical consequences of tendon injuries in horses. The goal is to explain the stages of healing and use this knowledge to provide insight into creating a successful rehabilitation plan. Additionally, the indications for, use of, and side effects of orthopaedic shoe modifications will be described to provide the basis for optimally applying therapeutic shoes to each individual patient. During the practical session, this information will be used to discuss the management of patients with various orthopaedic conditions. ❤️

Dear friends of osteopathy, we look back on an exciting year. We had some great events and our association has been reorganized. We have in Kris a great new president, and Larissa will continue to support us in the EVSO 2.0 project. 😊👍

We are pleased to announce that Jenny Hagen has agreed to be the speaker for our workshop on podiatry 🧲❤️ at the beginning of October 2026. We are currently in the organizational phase, but you can already mark October 2–3, 2026, in your calendars. 🥳

Next year, we will be actively supported by Markus Mayer’s congress office, which will help us make EVSO events sustainable for the future. The initial meetings have been very promising and give us every confidence in this collaboration. 👏

We wish you all a wonderful end to the year and a healthy 2026. 🥂❤️🎇
