Not a Course - Wellbeing Gifts

Not a Course - Wellbeing Gifts Not a Course: 1–5 minute nervous system gifts for busy, overwhelmed humans. Short online companions built from daily gifts, not tasks. Text, audio, and music.

Evidence-informed, gentle support. Not a Course. A gift for your tired nervous system. Not a Course creates short online companions for people who are too tired for another programme they will never finish. Instead of long courses and endless homework, we offer tiny daily gifts for your nervous system: 1–5 minute practices you can read or listen to on a day when you have almost no energy left. Each companion has clear edges, a gentle beginning and a real ending, so it never becomes another thing you feel guilty about. Our work is evidence-informed and quietly practical. We focus on small, realistic shifts that often make life feel a little softer: a calmer evening, an easier morning, a moment of breathing space in the middle of a heavy week. You can choose how you receive each gift: reading, voice only, or voice with music. There are no streaks, no pressure, no points and no “you missed a day” messages. We only ask for an email address, and we do not track you. Your nervous system already has enough to handle. Our job is to reduce the load, not add more in the name of help. Companions built from gifts, not tasks. Our mission is to offer quietly supportive, evidence-informed companions for tired nervous systems – short experiences built from tiny gifts, not tasks, with no guilt, no pressure and no tracking.

Never Say This to a Stressed Mum

“You wanted kids. What did you expect?”

Choosing motherhood does not mean giving up the right to feel tired, overwhelmed or unsupported.

She can love her children and still be struggling. Both can be true.

When Carrying Too Much Starts to Feel Personal

Sometimes the pressure is not the only thing that hurts.

It is what happens when you carry too much for too long and slowly start wondering if the problem is you.

Maybe you are not failing.
Maybe it is simply too much.

“You knew what you were signing up for.”

Choosing motherhood doesn't mean agreeing to be exhausted, unsupported and unable to say you're struggling.

A tired mum shouldn't have to earn the right to be tired.

5 Things You Should Never Say to a Woman Under Stress | Part 3

Some words don't calm a stressed woman down. They make the pressure worse.

"You're overreacting."
"Everyone is stressed."
"You're too sensitive."
"You need to be more organised."
"You just need to toughen up."

If she's already overwhelmed, she may not need another judgement or another instruction to cope better.

She may simply need less pressure.

Part 4: what to say instead.

5 Things You Should NEVER Say to a Woman Close to Burnout

Some of the most damaging things you can say to a woman close to burnout sound completely reasonable.

"You're good under pressure."
"Just switch off after work."
"Everyone's stressed."
"Manage your time better."
"At least you have a good job."

Work stress, chronic pressure and emotional exhaustion don't disappear because someone is capable, grateful or still functioning.

Sometimes she doesn't need better advice. She needs less pressure.

Which one would make you mad?

5 Things You Should Never Say to a Woman Close to Burnout

5 things people say all the time →

Some phrases sound helpful, supportive or even complimentary - until you're the woman already running on empty.

Being good under pressure, having a good job or needing "better time management" doesn't make chronic work stress and exhaustion disappear.

Sometimes she doesn't need more advice. She needs less pressure.

5 Things You Should Never Say to an Overwhelmed Mum

Some of the most frustrating things you can say to an overwhelmed mum actually sound helpful.

When she is already carrying the mental load, emotional load and endless responsibilities of family life, even well-meant advice can become one more thing she has to explain, organise or carry.

Sometimes she doesn't need another solution.

She needs someone to notice what needs doing before she has to ask.

Things You Should Never Say to a Tired, Overwhelmed Mum

Most of these sound helpful. That’s exactly why they can land so badly.

When a mum is already carrying the mental load, even well-meant advice can become one more thing to organise, explain or carry.

The Invisible Weight Mums Carry

Some of the hardest parts of motherhood are the things nobody sees.

The planning. The remembering. The worrying. The emotional load. The constant mental checklist running in the background.

If you're an overwhelmed mum carrying the mental load for everyone else, this is your reminder that invisible work is still work.

Sometimes the heaviest thing a mum carries all day is everything no one else can see.
