What if we prepared women for hormonal change before they were struggling to understand it?

Too many women reach perimenopause and menopause without understanding what may be changing — or having the practical tools and support to navigate it.

PREPARED was created from a belief that we can do this differently.

Through greater understanding, nervous system regulation, restorative practice and meaningful connection.

Whether you’re curious about what’s ahead, entering or already navigating hormonal change — preparation changes the experience.

Come as you are. Leave prepared.

This is 46. 🎈

2½ years post-menopause — and I feel more alive, more energised and more excited about my life than I did in my 30s.

Not exactly the story we’re told about midlife, is it?

And it’s not because life has become easier, far from it.

It’s because I’ve become more aligned with who I actually am.

My mid-30s into my early 40s stripped a lot away. They challenged my health, my identity, my energy and the direction I thought my life was going in.

But somewhere in all of that, I stopped trying to fit myself into a version of life that no longer felt true.

And KŌNENKI was born from that place.

From lived experience. From everything I’d learned professionally. From going through perimenopause and then being thrown into surgical menopause at 43. From recognising how little women are prepared for one of the biggest transitions of their lives — and knowing I wanted to help change that.

People have told me that perhaps, in my 40s, I shouldn’t tell everyone I’m already post-menopausal — like I should somehow be embarrassed or ashamed.

So naturally, I’ve decided to do the EXACT OPPOSITE.

I’ll shout it from the rooftops.

Because menopause isn’t something women should feel they need to hide, whisper about or quietly endure.

And it doesn’t have to be the decline we so often hear about.

Of course it has its challenges — I live with the impact of surgical menopause every day.

But I’m also living proof that a happy, fulfilling and energised life is possible with the right education, practical tools and support.

That’s why my mission is to help prepare women before the time arrives.

Because preparation changes the experience.

At 46, I care less about what I’m ‘supposed to be doing’ and more about what feels meaningful.

Less proving. More purpose.
Less fitting in. More truth.

And if this is what getting older feels like, I’m very much here for it.

Everything was leading me here.

Here’s to 46 and loving midlife. 💫🤍✨

Midlife change is inevitable.
But how we meet it isn’t entirely out of our hands.

We can learn what’s happening in our bodies.
We can ask better questions.
We can advocate for the support we need.
We can build practical tools that help us regulate, adapt and move forward.

Because preparation isn’t about controlling the transition.

It’s about becoming an active participant in how we experience it.

Preparation changes the experience.

At KŌNENKI, we see a different way forward in midlife.

One where women are informed before they’re overwhelmed.
Supported rather than left to figure it out alone.
And equipped with practical tools that integrate into everyday life.

It doesn’t have to be the way so many women are experiencing it today.

We believe we can change the experience of midlife hormonal change — together.

Join the movement. ✨

If this found you, perhaps you’re exactly who I’ve been looking for. 🤍

I’m 2½ years post-menopause, with lived experience of both perimenopause and surgical menopause.

I’m also a certified Menopause Coach — but KŌNENKI was born from more than my qualifications.

It grew from my own experience of hormonal change, from navigating the questions I didn’t know I needed to ask, and from a belief that women deserve to understand what is happening in their bodies before they’re left trying to piece it all together - in the thick of it!

Whether you’re beginning to wonder what perimenopause might mean for you, already navigating it, approaching menopause, or finding your way on the other side — this space is for you.

Here we explore hormonal health alongside the things it can touch: mood, sleep, cognition, gut, stress, the nervous system and how we feel in our bodies.

Through evidence-based education, practical tools and supportive experiences, my hope is to help more women feel informed, prepared and better equipped to navigate this transition in a way that feels right for them.

Because preparation really can change the experience.

If you’re one of the women I’m looking for, stay. You’re in the right place. 🤍

Understanding starts here.

No one told me.

Looking back, many of my earliest signs of perimenopause were there.
I just didn’t know what I was looking at.

Through KÖNENKI Learn, I’m sharing the information | wish I’d had in my 30s — combining lived experience with evidence-informed education to help more women recognise the signs sooner than I did.

The anxiety.
The mood swings.
The weight gain around my middle.
The changing periods.
The sensitivities I couldn’t explain.

I blamed stress, my job, getting older, my diet, not trying hard enough.

What I didn’t realise was that fluctuating hormones can influence far more than hot flushes.

Perimenopause can begin years before menopause itself, yet many women are never taught what to look for.

The earlier we understand what’s happening, the more empowered we become to navigate it.
Which one resonated most with you?

Perimenopause symptoms can include anxiety, mood swings, irritability, weight gain, changing periods, histamine sensitivity, sleep disruption and hormonal changes that are often mistaken for stress, ageing or lifestyle factors. KONENKI Learn provides evidence-informed education to help women better understand perimenopause, menopause, hormone health and midlife wellbeing.

This post is for the version of me who was desperately searching the internet before my double mastectomy.

Looking for photographs.
Looking for other women’s stories.
Trying to understand what my body might look like afterwards — but perhaps even more than that, how I might feel in it.

I chose a risk-reducing, bilateral double mastectomy because I carry a BRCA1 gene mutation. I knew it was the right decision for me. But I loved my natural breasts. I loved my body. And I was scared that losing them might change the way I felt about myself.

I wanted to know:
Will I still feel feminine?
Will I still feel confident?
Will I still feel like me?
Will it be a mess?

One year after my double mastectomy, and 3.5 months after my final reconstruction surgery, my body IS different.

There are scars. There is numbness. There have been multiple surgeries, setbacks and a lot of healing.

But I still love my body.

I still feel feminine.
I still feel confident.
I still feel like me.

And over the past few months, I’ve been physically rebuilding too — regaining strength, expanding my capacity and finding my way back to the yoga practice that has been part of my life for so long.

Soon, I’ll be returning to guide others again too.🤍

I’m sharing this because I know how much I needed to see women living fully on the other side when I was preparing for mine.

Every mastectomy and reconstruction journey is different, and this is only my experience. But if you’re facing a risk-reducing mastectomy and you’re doing what I did — searching, wondering, full of unanswered questions, trying to picture what life might look and feel like afterwards — my DMs are always open.

I was very closely connected with my oncology & reconstruction team throughout the whole process and have all the details of my surgeries and reconstruction, so if there’s something about my experience you’d like to know, I’m happy to share.

Because sometimes seeing someone on the other side can make the unknown feel a little less frightening.🤍

Inspired by Rosie Krista Brown,MS,RN,ONN,CFNC •Proactive Cancer Prevention• the shining light on my journey 🤍✨
