Due to the latest study by Keck School of Medicine of USC, the higher doses of omega-3 supplements may be required to prevent cognitive decline.
It is also called Cognitive impairment which causes troubles in remembering, learning new things, concentrating, or making decisions. People with this disease have an increased risk of developing Alzheimer's or another dementia.
33 participants who had risk factors for developing Alzheimer's disease, a family history of illness, a sedentary lifestyle and a diet low in oily fish took part in the investigation.
The researchers discovered that at the end of the six months, participants who took omega-3 supplements had 200 per cent more DHA in their blood compared to those who took placebos. This latest study suggests that higher doses of omega-3 fatty acids (2 g per day or more) are needed to ensure adequate brain delivery.
